We played the same way United did today at the Etihad. We just needed more pace that day.

City aren’t that hard to stop as crazy as it sounds.

How the hell was City not awarded a penalty on that corner kick? Mainoo takes down Haaland Greco-Roman wrestling style.

It does sound crazy when you realize they went 18-4-0 to close out the season.

Doku is a phenomenal player who is going to end more than one fullback’s career.

Teams are terrified of them and roll over.

ok - Leeds v Soton tomorrow in what might be my favorite match of the year. LOVE the Championship playoff final. Do I care who wins? Not really. Having watched a ton of both teams this season I'd say it's a "pick em" as both are well capable of winning. Soton won both their meetings this season, but that don't mean anything. Hope it's a good one.

If it’s your favorite match of the year, are you getting up early for it??

Edit: my bad, it’s at 10am ET. Some errant webpage I saw listed it as 7am.

Yup, which to be honest helps Newcastle because extra matches to go play in the middle of no where in front of 3k people and a cow in a nothing competition is the worst.

    So enjoy that, Chelsea.

I actually wonder if they keep Grealish for depth against the shit teams, Pep doesn't trust him in the big games, or do they move him on to try and recoup some of their losses?

I am glad its a midnight kick off here in kangaroo land and not at 4am or 5am.

Yes. I just discovered that too. And edited my previous post just as you were replying. Not the first time it’s happened to me!

Just tuned in. Pretty surprised to see Soton wearing black and gray, rather than their iconic red and white. Surely that would’ve been allowed since their opponent is playing in their usual all whites.

wish ESPN+ would fix their audio sync. I hate when the audio is a beat ahead.

I’ve always wondered if that was sometimes intentional. Like certain announcers, e.g., Martin Tyler, often seemed to be 1-2 secs ahead of the action.

Edit: Hmm… maybe it’s more about certain broadcaster providers? Tyler in recent years has been mostly on Sky I think, and today’s final might be broadcast by Sky also?

the same way Pep’s teams always get beat: the simplest, most direct pass onto a pacey mfer

Close off the area in front of the penalty area and they are pretty toothless.

Doku is the key to breaking that going forward. He can do what Grealish did but with pace.

Sounds like Kompany going to Bayern. I can only assume they think there’s a chance of him being able to “do an Arteta” for them. But even if that’s true, this is a big roll of the dice, from one of the biggest clubs in the world. Ballsy decision.

Its wild to see this happen, can't remember the last time a manager would have gone to a club the status of Burnley, got them into the top division, got them relegated then go to a significantly bigger club in such a short window of time.
But the talk about Kompany was that he and Arteta had very high potential as managers, so it will be interesting to see what happens if Kompany doesn't get the team up and going instantly after a trophyless season.

Lol, imagine Chelsea sticking with a manager thru the entire length of a 5 year contract.

He kind of looks like if Pep and ten Hag had a son.
