Except he's not, not by a mile. Why in the world would we be signing Mbappe if he's such an upgrade over Vinicius and plays centrally.

Stanboy logic. My favorite player is better than everyone else at everything, including cooking and cleaning.

    Except he's not a no.9

Yes Eder Militao who has been injured for almost the entire season is the reason Jude Bellingham isn't the leader in the goal scoring charts.

If he's such a clinical finisher I don't see why he wouldn't be close to top scorer next season. But I think this idea that he's good for 3-4 goals every couple of games is probably more wishful thinking than anything reality and context based.

He's not going to win the Balon d'Or. Carlo has already come out and proclaimed Vinicius as the best player in the world and the front runner for the Bd'O. I'm not sure what to tell you but when the players coach, (a coach as accomplished and universally respected as Carlo) thinks his teammate is better.

Difference is Benzema was consistently scoring goals and he was the teams only real no. 9. Jude has hit a bit of a dry spell and we have other players more than capable of picking up the scoring load.

Yeah sucks for Jude but he has to be a little more realistic, and most likely this will be an opportunity for him to grow and mature. He's not here to win the pichichi but if its his goal to be a BdO and Pichichi winner than he will work hard this summer to become a better striker than Mbappe and Vinicius and he will get his flowers.

I don't get it. Does this mean Kroos is retiring or not going to extend his contract?

Well, either it's either Rodrygo or Cama getting sacrificed from the first XI, if we play a preferred formation most of the time.

Always going to happen if Kylian does eventually turn up given the amount of young talent we now have in attack and midfield, everyone cannot start, you have to know that when deciding to come, going to have to fight, although with Toni leaving it's less crowded in midfield

To be honest I still see Bellingham as the talisman and best player of this team and not Vini. I don't know why people say its Vini's team when in reality its Jude's. Sure Vini is great but he's more of an enigma and maverick, Jude is the heart and soul of it imo.

    Nah

When Vini is on, we are almost impossible to beat. He generates so much offense

and he also gives the team life with his effort and hyping the crowd

he’s our best and most important player and by a decent amount imo

Regardless who the best player is, I think Jude should at least become the primary penalty taker. He has a commanding presence, he's not erratic. For at least that purpose, I don't trust Vini as much.

Yes. This will clearly be the best way to not rock the boat.

New galactico with Balon d' Or ambitions arrives, then strip player with seniority and Balon d' Or ambitions from PK duties despite not making any mistakes to warrant decision and hand PK privileges to the youngest and most unlikely player of the three to win the Balon d' Or despite noticeable player's drop in form and predictable regression after hot start.

The opponent's defenders are gonna tear their hamstrings trying to contend with both Vini and Mbappayed on the break.

What I'm curious to see is how the team plays against a low block without Kroos. Cause I think is there are gonna be some issues.

Mbappe is dangerous against a low block too. His movement inside the box is electric, and there’s so many goals he’s scored from that inside left channel when the defence is fully set.

Kroos is a big miss but we have effectively taken him out of the team and put Mbappe in. So long as the defensive structure is sound, I’m not worried about offence at all.

His movement may be electric. But the team has lost it's best passer. I know the team will adjust, I just think there will be growing pains with a Kroosless and a limited Modric midfield.

    Rose tinted glasses.

The most frustrating thing about Real Madrid for the past few years, and pretty much as long as I can remember, is we seldom play defence splitting through balls and have attackers making those runs.

Yes, Kroos has at times made some good passes and people are still drooling over the one against City, but he has never been a prolific assister. I believe the most assist he's had in a season, excluding corners and free kicks, is 4.

People forget Tchouameni and Camavinga actually have a good passing range on them. See no reason why they can't feed Mbappé through if he makes the runs.

Mbappe doesn’t need through balls to score. He is more than capable of just getting a simple ball into his feet and making a chance with it.

Look at the goals he scored last season and tell me how many of these would require a Kroos level pass? Most of these are passes that any fullback or winger can deliver.

The problem with losing Kroos is not the goals. It’s the building of play from defence to the midfield and final third. I think Bellingham is capable of that. He is not as good as Kroos in doing that specific job, but we will be fine in midfield and attack.

Carvajal is probably the biggest loser with Kroos leaving, Kroos' instant switches from side to side always seemed to find him when he had space up the right wing, he can't really sneak up the right while VJ is doing stepovers on the left anymore. While be interesting to see what new attacking patterns we come up with.

I think we’re going to be just fine losing Kroos. Our style will change, but we’ve got Bellingham and Camavinga who are fantastic at break lines and ball progression.

Kroos was never the best player to have to break down a low block. Camavinga and Bellingham can dribble into space and break lines with passes, Mbappe and Vinny will just need to time the runs.

Again, these are not ridiculous, out of this world passes. Kroos is easily replaceable in this team. We in fact already have the players..

Thanks for the service, but all this "this thread should not be locked" and talk about how we're going to miss him needs to stop.

I do think players who retire at Madrid should have their player threads left open.

Players who move to other clubs should have their threads locked and discussions continued in the “other teams” threads.

How did the team do without Kroos and Modric in the team this season?
