Yeah, exactly. Building something which could threaten to challenge for silverware for years to come, finding your long-term manager, that is much more valuable than winning a couple trophies in the short term IMO. Close to 2 prems already. They've done a great job turning that around.
You are making (at a guess- 50K a week, minimum.... why in the name of Jehovah's waiting witnessess would you risk that?? to win some extra money???
Ten Hag gone. Considering the state of United on the pitch, the surprise is that it took so long. But their problems are significantly more profound than being without an on field identity; it’s a club in crisis and has been for quite a number of years now. Bringing in Klopp (gulp!) at the zenith of his powers wouldn’t fix that club, even with 5 years guaranteed.
that was my take too..... But it is a kind of disease with many people. Some guy in the 90s supposedly won over $1M on a lottery and proceeded to lose most of it gambling....... duhhhh......
Even betting on yourself to score can influence the outcome. Instead of making the best decisions for your team to win, you are instead focusing on going for goal. In a sport that has draws, betting on your team to win is problematic. It means you can make decisions that risk throwing away a valuable point, because your money is on a win.
I agree with the notion that betting on yourself to score can affect the team, but largely speaking what you’re doing is trying to do what you should be doing: scoring more than the other guys. And in backing yourself to score, it’s a difficult road to travel to prove that doing so somehow make things worse for your side, unless it’s incredibly obvious like stopping a certain goal on the line and then missing, but even then…very difficult to prove that. Plus there’s the obvious that no one can guarantee he’ll score. No one. But yellow cards or even somethings like less malign like number of corners or throw-ins can have a very definite affect on the outcome. So I can understand why they come down on it more harshly.
that's where I'd place my money. not that it makes him a good choice mind you. that place needs a good 5 years (or more) to flush out the crap that they have on and off the pitch. but their deluded over-entitled fans will never give them that kind of patience.
