I'm pretty sure Bosz can stay in Eindhoven, if for some inexplicable reason he wants to... Don't know Celtic's plans for Sadler as he was a bit of a scramble appointment, but they can't feel too bad about the season. It's OT, but is this a record year for silverware for Ams in Europe? Wes, Weah, the 3 Phillips Bros x2, CCV... anyone I'm forgetting?
Lol, had to go look it up. What a crazy reaction. This is the reaction of a man who already knows he's getting shit canned, or wants to at least force the issue
DNP for McKennie today with the match still in the 2nd half and Juventus trailing. I wonder whether this is due to fatigue/injury or contract negotiations.
La Gazzetta had Miretti at 60% likely to start, with no reason given. Perhaps it's fatigue, but equally likely that Wes just didn't convince Montero during training.
Complete conjecture on my part but if I had to guess it is because Montero knows Miretti well from the youth team where he surely managed Miretti.
I think it wasn't anything more than getting a rest. Alcaraz probably has verbiage in his loan deal that reduces the cost of the loan the more he plays (why he came on). Recent reporting from Juventus tier 1 is that another set of meetings on contract extension after the last game on Sunday against Monza.
I hope he was just out for rest. Would hate to learn Allegri was Wes’s only advocate on staff. Juve’s midfield is not very good and I can somewhat understand supporters wanting to move on from Wes. What don’t understand is that he seems to take on an unfair amount of blame when he is easily one of the better MFs at the club, especially considering what he gets paid relative to others. Supporters should be pointing fingers elsewhere. Miretti is young so he gets the benefit of the doubt even though he really has never played well. Rabiot has been awful, same with Locatelli. The kid from Southampton doesn’t belong at this level. I wish Wes got more respect. I’d love to see him stay and thrive at Juve under a new manager. I know he has another gear he can take his game to.
Expected a meeting between Weston #McKennie’s agent and #Giuntoli at the beginning of June to discuss the future of the midfielder, who would like to stay at #Juventus.🇺🇸(via @NicoSchira )#juve #seriea pic.twitter.com/oPAL4BHdGs— Juve Xtra (@juven_xtra) May 21, 2024 From what I see Juve fans want him to stay too. Not all, but most.
I really do think they'll wind up giving him a modest salary bump and sign him for 2ish years. I think the early proposals were entirely about not knowing what kind of revenue they'll have access to next season. Now that they've won Coppa Italia (something like €8m in prize money) and secured a CL spot (at least €10m, more with wins and way more if they secure a spot in the knockouts), I think they'll have more to offer Wes. Wes isn't gonna make what Locatelli is making (allegedly what he's asking for), but they could def afford 2 years at, say €4.5m per year (almost a €1.3m bump if capology is believed)
There is also a reported ~$40-50m for the Club World Cup summer of 2025 which should go into the planning for next season. I hope the club and Wes can arrive at the number you proposed. I would completely understand if Wes isn't impressed with anything less than a salary increase. I can also understand if the club feel that Wes is replaceable, especially if they can get a decent transfer for him ($18m+). Easier said than done given their midfield purchases since Matuidi.
To be clear, I'm just tossing around random numbers for Wes' potential salary bump, and I would 1000% understand if Wes (and his team) wants nothing less than the ~€6m/yr they're asking for. I think he fully deserves it, but I know that's a hard sell to a club with standards / expectations as high as Juve.
Well, Juve is apparently able to raise salaries if they want to. Let's see what they do for Wes. Fabrizio Romano on X: "⚪️⚫️ Juventus have now reached full agreement to extend Andrea Cambiaso’s contract. New long term deal will be valid until June 2029 with salary increase included for the fullback who’s also highly rated by Thiago Motta. Done deal. https://t.co/M1oCGQZO30" / X (twitter.com)
McKennie on the bench today for the final match of the season against Monza. Likely again IMO due to the contract negotiation situation.
Could be that as well. But Locatelli and Rabiot also not in so maybe not. Could also be wanting to give Fagioli minutes and earlier message indicated the possibility that the more minutes Alcaraz plays, the less paid for him.
I don't really think it's connected, but FWIW, Rabiot is also in a weird contract position and was most recently rumored to be leaning towards leaving
Final match of the season and we are seeing a new tradition develop where teams with nothing to gain or lose trot out rarely used players. Witness Perin then Pinsoglio play in Goal, Tiago Djalot make his season debut, Alcaraz from the start, Nicolussi Caviglia and Miretti from the start. Monza giving young Ferraris his debut.
