I guess the tricky question is IF Trump, or someone like him, becomes President and orders “the Generals” to mobilize troops against “rogue” states, and a lackey is the Joint Chief of Staff, and some other generals go along with that plan, where does the average service member stand?

I know my uncle, retired green beret and current MAGA enthusiast, wouldn’t hesitate to march on California.

If the President AND several top brass go for fascism, I do think that does create confusion and conflicting loyalties for service members. However, this is still a crazy and highly unlikely scenario. Sadly, it’s one we need to confront.

Proving the unproveable is impossible to do. There are a lot of "ifs" in your statement here.

And I know more than one MAGA enthusiast who would never go against their nation. This is still arguing exceptions, rather than the rule; most cosplayers on January 6th weren't servicemembers, nor were most insurrecionists veterans.

The real world isn't an episode of GI Joe, and nor are most servicemembers nor veterans more loyal to a General over their own nation.

I mean, there are still a pile of "ifs" in your statement here, and most of us don't follow some 2 or 3 star type like a member of Cobra follows Serpentor or Cobra Commander.

Actually it was one post by Deadtigers, snowflake. You can't deny that there's a MAGA influence in the military, can you?

Our military is screwed if they can't take mild criticism by someone on Team USA.

Education professionals get grouptagged like this all the time. I see no reason for this level of anger.

Why sting operations are conducted by LE

Lee confronted two teenagers Friday night – a 17- and 18-year-old – at a restaurant in Pontiac. He accused one of being a pedophile and punched him, according to the police news release.

The teen who was punched pulled out a knife, and the other – suspected to be the 17-year-old – shot Lee several times with a pistol, according to police. He was taken to the hospital and later died of his injuries.

Long interview with Kid Rock. @Kazuma

My overall take is that Kid Rock’s support for Trump started as personal…both guys pretend to be WWC whisperers when they were born with a silver (Rock) and gold (Trump) spoon in their mouths. Rock is about ostentatious theatricality and transgressiveness just like Trump. But, in both cases, these guys are like the people in a famous Twilight Zone episode, the one where a rich dying guy made everyone wear a mask to get their inheritance. The masks were magic and they changed their faces to resemble the masks. The masks became the faces.

That’s kinda what I meant that Kid Rock has been “cosplaying” his whole life.

The article portrays him like Nietzsche’s warning about staring into the abyss. The cosplay became real.

I’ve said it before but I don’t think he’s cosplaying. He grew up wealthy yeah, but he was going to Romeo public schools and that area is pretty much where Metro Detroit becomes rural Michigan. There isn’t much to do in Romeo so it wouldn’t surprise me if he was doing redneck things. It’s a different story if he grew up in Bloomfield Hills or the Pointes. Or if he went to Cranbrook.

As for his politics, Kid Rock came of age in 1980s Macomb County. Macomb has never exactly been a bastion of progressive views. There’s still people holding MAGA rallies in certain parts. And Trump always likes to visit that county. He skipped a GOP debate to attend a rally there recently. So I’m not surprised he’s like this.

Did you read the article? It portrays him as authentically into hip hop culture by the mid 80s. The article quotes tons of black people who knew him back in the day.

I’m using Dave’s word. He’s authentic, but wasn’t as insane as he is now. He didn’t use to care that much about all the culture stuff 30-40 years ago. He’s another whose brain broke.

    @superdave

Finally read it. If anything, it confirmed my thoughts. Dude just did what a lot of people have done since Trump because President: Stop hiding their racism. Even if he was into black music authentically.

I think if anything, he just dropped the mask. People in Macomb used to be rather subtle about their racism. Usually things like, "I won't go to Detroit" kind of deal. I heard a lot of that whenever I visited family over there.

Not surprised about the union stuff with his dad, and my mom went through similar driving a VW and working for them. It got so bad that police escorts were required when she and others left the auto show.

There's no small number of people who dig music made by Black people but still hold prejudices against us. It's not like those two viewpoints are incompatible. Ted Nugent's record collection probably contains a fair number of Black artists. Eric Clapton, same.

For sure. For the racists, there are two acceptable black roles: servant and entertainer.
