i agree with everyone on that list except for : nelson semedo: he has had great performances this year and has played his way back from injury he deserves a callup dalot: ya he's nothing special but if one of our injury prone fullbacks get hurt you want him there and aside from that he's had more of a consistent year then cancelo, cancelo either looks world class or looks like he doesn't know how to play his position. A.silva: i mean you gotta be hating, CB is our weakest position how could you now want this kid there? pepe is 40 felix: i know your a felix hater and I'm a felix defender and to your defense I'm starting to side with you, he's just a lil bitch but the talent is there and i don't think you can leave someone like that out (see barca second goal vs rayo vallecano) aside from that i agree the semi pro footballers have no business in this squad jota hasn't played consistently in two years same with neto.... danilo is slower then pepe.
I can't hate on my fellow tras-os-montes brother Pote but we were talking about Chico. Pote must have taken a massive alheira dump on Jorge Mendes' cereal or made fun of CR7 to not get called up.
Ruben Neves and Otavio being included is really disappointing, but unfortunately to be expected. Neves in particular does absolutely nothing. Huge mistake leaving out someone like Nunes for him. Enough with this Saudi garbage. Guerreiro better be injured/unfit to play. Only viable reason he could be left out for Semedo. I would've taken Horta over Conceição, but I'm not too fussed about that. I see some people questioning Pepe's inclusion. That guy is still easily one of the best CBs Portugal has. Semedo out for Guerreiro (if healthy)/Mario Rui/Nuno Santos and R.Neves/Otavio out for Nunes are the two definite changes I would make. Other than that, I think this close to the best Portugal squad available. I'm sure all the Sportinguistas will complain as usual that their entire team wasn't selected.
Pretty happy with the squad. Otavio and Neves the only two that I’d question, what does Pote have to do to get a look in ? Even if Pepe doesn’t play, the experience he brings to the squad could be invaluable behind the scenes and if we were defending a lead with 10 minutes to play there’s not many other players who I’d trust more than him Dalot - One of the few players that United fans have commended this year. Much improved and I’d rather believe the opinion of people who watch him every week Jota - He has been Liverpool’s biggest loss this year, they’ve been a different team when he’s available. Hopefully he’s fit. Not the flashiest, which unfortunately you have to be to get appreciation by some on this forum, but an absolutely brilliant player nonetheless
Would’ve been intrigued to see Nuno Santos in Martinez’ favoured formation but not the biggest loss. Arguments could be made for how Trincao ended the season, but again I think he’s only worth considering if Jota and Neto aren’t completely fit If there’s anyone us Sporting fans need to stake a claim for.. it’s surely super Paulinho after this season
In fairness I do believe Pote deserves a call-up, I'd easily take him over either of the Saudi duo. Ruben Neves is just useless, absolute waste of a roster spot to include him. What's worse is that he might get starts. Neves and Otavio out for Pote and Nunes. Clear improvement.
Maybe R Neves and Otavio get injured during our warmups vs Ireland, Croatia and Finland.. Also anyone else feel like Ruben Dias is a waste of a roster spot ? Guy is utter shite every time he puts a Portugal jersey on but he turns into god himself whenever he’s playing for city… Weird
Ruben Dias is massively overrated.. He’s complete dog shit every time he plays for Portugal, major errors and mistakes costing us tournaments and big games.. Guy turns into Superman when he puts on a city jersey though.. It’s so strange to me
🚨 Al-Hilal wants to sign AC Milan star Rafael Leão. 🇸🇦✍️Leão's father will travel to Saudi Arabia this week to negotiate with club. ✈️The €175M release clause won't be an issue for the Saudi club. 💸✅(Source: @ojogo) pic.twitter.com/jI4wWY2Dec— Transfer News Live (@DeadlineDayLive) May 23, 2024 It’s about time this bum got dropped from the Portugal team useless space on the team
bro........... what a joke. Saudi Arabia turning into the Portugal allstar league? wtf is this, i was reading some article the other day SA trying to get b.silva.
If you wanna blame eliminations on players, look not further than diogo costa and Patricio who were at fault for both of our elimination goals in the last two tournaments. At the same time though, it ain’t their fault the losers in front of them scored zero goals
It's because of Jorge Mendes. He's a blight on Portuguese football. It's also amusing how that poster calls Leão a bum, and says he should be dropped for potentially moving to Saudi Arabia, when he's also probably the biggest Ronaldo defender on here and blames his shitty performances on the other players "sabotaging" him.
lol are you describing Ronaldo or Leão? He's usually much more impactful when he comes on as a sub. Doesn't mean he shouldn't be in the squad though, that would be idiotic.
This piece of shit doesn't even have a team to play for and his pimp daddy is looking for someone who's interested. And yet, he still gets called up. https://www.abola.pt/futebol/notici...s-procura-uma-nova-equipa-2024052419371161381
What a season by Dalot, without a doubt the best Portuguese fullback right now. Needs to start at lb, especially after Mendes put on one of the most shameful performances in CL history agaisnt Sancho. Sancho had bro looking like Bambi on ice,
So using your logic: 1. Bruno sucks because he plays on a team that finished 8th and he hasn't won the league title. 2. Dalot, who plays on the same team, is phenomenal. Nothing like exposing your own logic as completely idiotic.
You didn’t expose anything, I actually watch the games and don’t just look at statistics. Dalot routinely shuts down top wingers in the league, his quality is evident if you watch matches. Bruno played like trash for most of the season, and only started playing well in these last 10-12 games. The reason I do note rate bruno that highly is because he is extremely inconsistent, too emotional on the pitch (eg useless pressing ruining his teams shape), and makes many dumb decisions throughout the match that put his team under pressure. For instance, trying to lob the keeper from half field in the 92nd minute today uselessly giving up position for city to attack again. My views are consistent and unbiased, I also said pizzi was overrated trash despite netting 72737 goals and assists for benfica. I would only be okay with him stsrting for Portugal in the position he played today, striker. As a midfielder he just lacks way too many traits to help us control matches. I’d much rather have nunes/vitinha/J.neves/bernardo next to Palhinha dictating our midfield and have him further up the pitch like today as a striker
Woidlnt really say Bernardo was bad, but yea wasnt one of his best games that’s for sure. Part of the reason why he wasn’t that involved though is because peps second half tactics, which were to give Doku the ball as much as possible. On the subject of doku, bro is a menace. Reminds me of the old school wingers who used to have skills and dribble, rather than the majority of ones we have today who play like robots and rarely seem interested in taking on the defender
Again, the metric of success you consistently used was title wins. Dalot has won the same amount as Bruno. So answer to the bullshit metric and logic your create. You said it yourself in the Bruno thread: "8th place no cl." So with that logic, they're both shit. Am I right? Agree Dalot has been consistent and available all season long. We'll see if those performances can be translated at the Euro. Bruno, on the other hand, has been consistent virtually every season of his professional career at Man U. And those performances translate to the NT, unlike cuckolds like Bernardo and Co. sucking a thousand dicks on the big stage. Also, if your argument is that Bruno is positionally undisciplined, then what are your thoughts on scrubs like FAILix, who is too lazy to track back, is a perennial bench warmer, can never string together consistent performances, and no club wants to touch him with a 10 foot pole? It's odd. You focus your hate on certain players but not on the laundry list of steaming dog shit that's come out of Seixal, like FAILix, Sanches, etc. That's how it's obvious you're full of shit as much as you want us to believe you.
Yeah, the strategy seemed to be "just give Doku the ball". AWB held his ground and that Doku goal was a pure frango but yeah, I love watching Doku go at defenders.
