The rest of Messi's salary comes from Adidas and Apple, we already know this...

Cognitive dissonance. Someone can't deal with the prospect that #1 could be soccer.

Willing to bet english is not his "native" language, but even many of the "native" english speakers can't spell either.

Imagine getting injured on trash turf right before copa america. That's why he didn't go. Copa America is around the corner, that's priority too bad.

Clubs pay players not national teams but either way, if that is the case, they should postpone or reschedule the game.

MLS is becoming a joke of a league if they can't figure this out.

Two things about these PeoplePaidBig$ButMessiDoesntPlay™ games. 1) People need to be smart - he sits out games, he picks up knocks, and he may avoid turf if your field is turf. Bottom line, there's a pretty good chance he doesn't play. Proceed with caution, and if you go in, go in knowing there's risk. 2) The front office sales people need to be up front with fans and not just take the money and run. Maybe they'll do a partial refund, but how do you do that when people have bought tickets off of StubHub or wherever.

Insult to injury, Vancouver lost to Messi-less, Suarez-less, Busquets-less Miami.

Fck Vancouver and Fck their ugly, plastic field. Same goes for Portland and Seattle. If my legs were worth tens of $m I wouldn't play on that shit either. Messi can't be expected to create great art on that crappy canvas. I don't blame him a bit. If more players would do that, perhaps those cities would stop pretending that they are worthy of being MLS with pitches that no self-respecting top-level professional league would allow...

I know the ball also ********ing rolls faster affecting the weight of beautiful passes.

Yes artificial turf plays much faster than grass. You have to weight your passes differently.

Also i once measured the temperature of the Mayfield turf fields in Palo Alto. The air temp was in the 90s F. The turf was 50 degrees hotter than the concrete right next to it, something like 200 degrees. I was cooking my feet. My daughter’s cleats delaminated. This was with the black rubber in-fill, which is now replaced with lighter colors etc

Yeah, besides the negative effect on the flow of the game there's the heat, then there are the potentially emitted harmful chemicals, including PAHs, VOCs, styrene and many others, then there are the microplastics being emitted into the environment, and then there are the greenhouse gasses - ethylene, propylene and methane, etc.

    Otherwise, it's fine!

Some of the turf fields seem to offgas for years -- I used to get a terrible headache every time we played at Graham School in Mountain View.

This is what my team played on when I lived in Europe and no one complained.

OK, it might play a little fast, but I'd still take it over turf.

Fields in argentina are worse than that. Messi's played in bad fields.

The problem is people are paying for an experience. The grass should offer a soccer experience for the fan.
