From what I've read is that they had offered a contract to Flick when Xavi announced he would step down earlier in the season. The contract was signed after Laporta convinced Xavi to stay, so Laporta [between a rock and a hard place] had to find a way to get rid of Xavi while making it look like it's all Xavi's fault. Dirty.
Then again, you're getting the guy that got Brighton relegated instead of the guy that has Brighton playing well. Baffling. Kompany is Lothar Matthäus tier.
🚨 Erik ten Hag to @VI_nl: “Manchester United won the league for the last time in 2013, 11 years ago. But still they expect us to win every game while competing at the top. This club is not ready for that”.“We were supposed to start building something and we made the first… pic.twitter.com/hvUACmxAxy— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) May 25, 2024 Hate stuff like this. As a coach, YOU are the expectation setter. I disliked it when Ange did it, when Conte and Mou did it. You set the tone. You as a coach control that. If the team plays in a way that fills fans with excitement and hope, they'll come and support the team. If you play in a way that fills fans with dread and negative emotions, that's what you are going to get. At the end of the day, this is supposed to be FUN.
He's a manager getting no reassurance from the owners and absolutely getting bullied by the media. That's when you get the defensive mentality and pointing out the obvious. I don't see an issue with it. They've had so many managers over the years with little success. Blame needs to be fairly directed at someone else beyond the manager. Ten Hag has his faults, but this isn't simply a case of a mismanaged team. No manager is solving the CURRENT situation.
What manager have they had that was actually worth anything at the elite level of European football? Their manager signings have mimicked their player signings really. I mean this guy was all for signing Antony for €100m and he’s complaining about his side not being good enough.
Club signed mediocre players like Antony for 100 ME+ because the coach insisted. Went out of group stage in CL because they couldn't get more points than mighty Copenhagen. 8th place finish in PL which is the worst since 1990. No wonder this guy is saying 3rd last season, Carabao last season etc. Utter flop this season and showing no accountability. The board of FC Bayern is convinced: ❇️ Thomas Tuchel let the negotiations for a new contract in Munich collapse because he already has the job at Manchester United secured pic.twitter.com/hIVaEMSdaQ— Christian Falk (@cfbayern) May 24, 2024 Hoeness public insults wouldn't have helped either. Anyways, I am not sure Tuchel will make Utd league contenders even if he gets 3 years. Bayern has a far better squad and he had their worst point tallies in last 12 years. Wasn't doing much in PL with Chelsea either.
Yea. If they had signed Klopp instead of Liverpool, Utd would have challenged for all the big titles. In fact, Utd spending power is closer to Man City. Pool also were a joke under Roy and inconsistent team under Rodgers though Suarez carried him until he left for Barca.

He doesn't understand its not about winning this cup or ending on that place on the table. ManU are simply unwatchable, they play god awful football and there is zero improvement since he arrived. I complained about Ancelotti's tactics, but his gameplan seems light years ahead of Ten Haag's in terms of coherence, and that says a lot.
This guy has zero to complain, but I guess complaining is part of the Dutch culture. He received (more than) sufficient backing from the club, but his team has shown major signs of regression instead of slight (or major) improvement. I still have no idea what they're trying to do on the pitch, and I can't imagine how ticket paying individuals must feel week in week out. Of all the managers they've had post-Ferguson (excluding caretakers), he's the worst for me. An utter embarrassement his time has been there and he needs to take some time off to reflect, instead of going the Dutch complaining route and bad-mouthing his (former) employer. Tüchel would be a substantial step up, all things considered.
Apparently when Hoeneß heard they were signing Kompany he said to call Flick and just accept whatever he asked for but it was too late by then.
Absolute comedy the recruiting by Bayern and Barca. Like people in shops not able to make their minds up after the third time visiting the same shop
I agree with you both but i believe that both coaches are going to do better than expected. at least on this board. Not saying they will blow away all expectation but rather that they will be decent.
It's a gamble and in 12months would be judged whether it was right or wrong One thing is sure getting rid of Tuchel who led us to our 2 least points in the league is a positive. We were going nowhere with him
Ten Hag team looked worse that Ole Solksjaer Ole was simply counter attacking, ETH team was like he picked guys from the parking lot and introduced them on the field
He's not a "gamble" he's the tenth choice for a reason. I also would have just given the job to Klose at this point. Any choice from the market is garbage, just get a former player and give him the honor instead of burning 12 mil. on a coach nobody wanted.
I don't expect to see unseen Real Madrid material from this. This looks like it is part of the deal Real Madrid did not sign for.
Of course. Only children believe the "the locker room is holy. You have to protect the group!" noise, we just knew we could get far more than the league offered for it as well as having creative control over footage. There's a reason the League threw a fit when the club had their own cameras around, because they knew what they were there for.
Domino’s are offering 115 free pizza’s for Man United fans meanwhile Man City fans have to pay full price…What a marketing strategy 🤣🤣🤣 pic.twitter.com/G6jr3DfW1S— george (@StokeyyG2) May 25, 2024
