Exclusive: Mauricio Pochettino has left Chelsea by mutual consent #cfc https://t.co/Jn5XXihLbZ— Matt Law (@Matt_Law_DT) May 21, 2024 It's quite insane that the people responsible for building this Chelsea squad have emerged unscathed from this situation while Poch has taken the bullet. Sounds like Poch (understandably) didn't trust them to sign the players needed in the summer and wanted some input on transfers and that has been the end of it. Definitely bad news from an England perspective anyway.
I wonder who they will get. Article lists ‘Stuttgart’s Sebastian Hoeness, Girona’s Michel, Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna, who has been lined up by Brighton, and Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca.’ The talk for Pochetino succeeding Southgate will start again but that’s unlikely.
Who knows with these lot. There are some potentially good options but someone like Poch who excels at individual empowerment/development and managing egos seems perfect for where the project is currently at. If they want someone who fits that profile plus more it will be very hard for them to find.
This guy just seems so clumsy. His handling of the Sampson thing with the women’s team whilst at the FA was also farcical. 🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Dan Ashworth email blunder opens door to tapping up probe📧 Ashworth sent message to NUFC account revealing secret exchange with incoming Man Utd chief Omar Berrada (on Man City gardening leave) BEFORE formal approach🟢 @MailSport 👇https://t.co/sVPnsdS5XI— Craig Hope (@CraigHope_DM) May 21, 2024
Bayer Leverkusen got spanked by Atalanta in the Europe League final. Former England U21 player Ademola Lookman with a hat-trick.

pic.twitter.com/Z5yRycsPnA— Lucas Paquetá (@LucasPaqueta97) May 23, 2024 I'm not sure how he can deny spot fixing - most of the bets came from where he's from, Paqueta Island. It's an island with less than 4000 people, the chances he wasn't involved is ridiculously small.
A lot people don't seem to realise how serious the allegations are. A player in the FA cup got a 10 year ban for only one allegation of spot fixing. There was another with 2 allegations that got a six year ban. If all 4 are proven I doubt he'll be playing again before 2030, and that would be fortunate.
I wonder where all these gambling on yourself issues are coming from. None of it is even subtle and feels massively naive. Feels pretty much impossible to get away with. I can understand being addicted and not being able to stop yourself but the Paqueta one is different to that.

Final shortlist for Chelsea head coach job: De Zerbi, Frank, Maresca, McKenna. No Xavi. List reflects desire to appoint a dynamic, forward thinking and progressive coach who fits in with the club’s ideology and has experience of coaching in English football at high level— Kaveh Solhekol (@SkyKaveh) May 26, 2024
Feels like they haven’t really got a clue what they are doing to be honest so it wouldn’t surprise me.
If you're going to ditch someone like Poch, don't do it at a time when there's a dearth of top managers around. The fact that Bayern Munich have had to turn to a novice coach who's just been relegated with Burnley says it all really.
He would have anyway since Thiago Silva has left. De Zerbi may do well for a few months but when they get a few injuries and they are not buying the players he wants he'll start throwing his toys out the pram. Probably wouldn't last a year.

McKenna out of the Chelsea race as it stands. De Zerbi the hot favourite. Thoughts Chelsea fans?— That's Football! (@ThatsFootballTV) May 26, 2024
Yeah, we've seen enough false starts already from Chilwell this season. Left back in the pits... kind of sums up his current England career perfectly
