The EU is tightening the money laundering laws. Football clubs are obliged to check where sponsor money comes from, the sources must be clear. Ajax and PSV were exposed in a recent NRC article as receiving money from Asian gamble companies, while it wasnot clear who the owners are. This will be prohibited by the EU. Clubs must give data to the governments who they receive money from.
There's a development in football financing, that's being targeted by fans as being very undesirable. https://www.dw.com/en/bundesliga-deal-what-does-private-equity-want-in-football/a-67732274 117763

The committee has too little confidence in the plans and creditworthiness of New York businessman Coley Parry. The Arnhem club can appeal until February 21. The club, which has received a hefty fine, is calling an emergency meeting with the entire staff. Lex Lammers 14-02-24, 12:15 Last update: 16:49 I don't get it that Vitesse is in trouble. The Eastern Europe owner (Russian/Ukranian/???) wiped iirc 130 million Vitesse owned him off the slate and Vitesse was without money, but also without debt. Yet they managed themselves into this shit AZ was broke and only because the liquidator allowed AZ to continue, because letting them go down the drain would cost more on unemployment payments for the state etc., and AZ within a short time turned the tables and was in the black within a few 92 or 3) years. Eenhoorn came in when AZ had a capital of 6 million and now he announced his leaving AZ has a whopping 60 million capital. So what have these people done at Vitesse to get into this financial shit. 117908

VI article popping up about a necesary financial turnaround at Ajax. Can't read it as it's behind a paywall. Missing CL football is a major issue, aggrevated by the diminishing transfer values. Personally I wonder about those transfervalues. For some reason Ajax could sell failures for good money, like that Bassey dude. In the mean time it seems Aston Villa is heading towards a 120 million loss last season/year.
They have been losing money for years! Only one year in the last 10 were they profitable and that was only because they got a huge transfer from for Jack Grealish from ManCity. (100) Aston Villa Finances 2022/23 - The Swiss Ramble (substack.com)

how long will it be until there is one of those classic American sports moves? Team holds city financially hostage, city won’t give in, team moves somewhere else. I guess there is the tiniest bit of precedence with Wimbledon/MK Dons.
They have been fighting for a new arena in Milan to replace the San Siro. This has been going on for years with no sign of progress. Rome also needs a new arena to replace the Olympic Stadium. I think it was Cruyff who said, "you can't play in a stadium with a running track around it."
