Beat TFC II! The away game just started. https://www.youtube.com/live/01LOpPNeCpE?si=wTgN_CXUjyxOTHEX Toronto goal in the 16th. Halftime. 1-0 to TFC II. There was at least one mention of "Hell is Real, MLS Next Pro Edition." We gotta spread the word to the poobahs, IMO. At this point, anything but "Heck is Plausible" doesn't sound right. There was a Crew 2 goal around the 50th minute. I didn't see who scored. 1-1 after 90 and it's time for kicks. Round 1 - Both teams score. Round 2 - TFC misses and Presthus scores low and left. TFC keeper guessed right. Round 3 - TFC sees their shot saved. Crew 2 scored and TFC (DeRosario?) guessed right. Round 4 - TFC fails to score and the Capys pick up two points in the standings to TFC's 1. Cole Johnson MOTM. Crew 2 wins 3-1 in penalties over Those Friggin Canucks. Crew 2 has never lost to TFC II.
Thanks to the people at Red Bull for the free drinks for today's tailgate! There could very well be future visits by Red Bull energy drink to Crew and Crew 2 tailgates. Down 1-0 following a goal in the 13th. And that's the way it ended.
It seemed like the first half was very one-sided and not in the good way. I suppose this season is to be expected, given the past two years and the purpose of MLS Next Pro.
If you work downtown, take a long lunch! If you work elsewhere, take a longer lunch! This will be your last time seeing a game in LDC until June 6th (Crew 2) or June 22 (full team.) There's a Crew 2 game at LDC tomorrow at noon vs Orlando City B. The north lot will be available for tailgating. 14th minute and Orlando scored. There's quite a few kids here for school day at Crew 2. 18th minute and we have a Crew 2 goal for a 1-1 game. Jayden Da scored. Aiden/Adrian got the assist. I didn't see him on the roster. 2-2 in the 35th following an Orlando City goal. 4-3 win! https://www.columbuscrew.com/crew2/competitions/mls-next-pro/2024/matches/clbvsorl-05-15-2024/ And I saw on June 5th at 5pm at Land-Grant, there's a Crew 2 meet and greet with GM Corey Wray and Head Coach Kelvin Jones.
There's a game in Bridgeview right now. The Capys had a real good chance about 14 seconds in before Owen Presthus scored in the fifth minute. 1-0 to Crew 2 in the 32nd. Gibran Rayo had a (barely) wide left shot in the 33rd from about 20 yards out. And then Gibran Rayo went and got a yellow card which lead to an easy Chicago PK goal right before the half. Drip on the flame or whatever. Chicago up 2-1 in the 49th. Final score 2-1.
And here's the link: https://tv.apple.com/us/sporting-ev...m6d4gkshcwbetn5nif0fma?ctx_brand=tvs.sbd.7000 The 17th minute saw a Union 2 goal. 2-0 in the 36th. Columbus goal and then a Union goal. 3-1 just before the half. And that's the way it ended. The next game is Thursday at 6pm vs New England II at LDC.
Something tells me Crew 2 isn’t destined for another appearance in the MLSNP championship game this season. Looks like a down year for the team. Which is fine insofar as results in that league are concerned. It does make you wonder if there’s any MLS quality talent in the immediate pipeline.
We depleted the roster and started over. Lots of younger talent. We seem to take at least one guy per year and that’s just fine. We should be a strong team next year. We seem to keep adding quality to Crew2. We have seen some changes in coaching , scouting & FO for the Crew ( both teams) as people are getting a opportunity at other places it speaks volumes to the Organization in recognizing talent of any kind. Hopefully we continue to do that and there is no reason to believe we won’t.
The next age class for most academies isn't great, in part due to Covid. Chase Adams and Lapkes are probably the next big academy kids. But next year and maybe later this summer, we should see some more quality players.
Well said. The point of Crew 2 isn't to win cups, but to develop Crew-level talent. As we've seen, it's been paying off. Let's see what happens in the not-too-far-off future once the kids get a bit older and advance up the pyramid.
Yes Harbourne 2 Games, Mrowka 5, Quinton played in one before he left , Sands & Hagen each played 1 time.
At Land-Grant, FWIW and I believe it's only head coach Kelvin Jones and GM Corey Wray. It still sounds like a fun time though.
Crew 2 vs New England II right now. Crew 2 goal in the 41st for a 1-0 lead. Chase Adams (Jayden Da assist) in the 47th(?) for the team's second goal. Another Crew 2 goal in the 66th! 79th. Tristan Brown in and Owen Presthus out. 3-1 final.
Hopefully, Tall's planned reorg of the Capys and the Academy doesn't lead to games going behind closed doors.
Crew 2 at Miami II at 7pm on MLS Season Pass. Chase Adams, unmarked in the 6th! 1-0 to the Capys! Owen Presthus had the assist. Halftime 1-0. Miami in the 74th and a bunch of Crew 2 shots in the next few moments and it's still 1-1 in the 76th. And off we go to penalty kicks! Crew 2 kicks second. End of the first 1-1 after a Gonzales kick. Diego Almeida kicks and he scores to tie it at two after two rounds. Cole Johnson saves the 3rd Miami kick! Jaden Da scores even after the keeper made the right guess. Crew 2 lead 3-2 top 4th. Johnson saves! Crew 2 can score and win! G. DeLibera no score! Miami scores to tie 3-3 mid 5th. Owen Presthus steps up... OFF THE BAR! DRAMA! Miami off the post! "All you can do is laugh" so sayeth the announcer. Columbus wins! 4-3 after six rounds. #29 Cole Johnson (Crew 2 GK) with MOTM.
I watched from about 75' on. Jaden Da is an absolute unit. For those who have watched more, how is he? Target striker of the future?
no, he is just more physically developed since he’s like 3-4 years older than the people he’s going up against, I can’t see him playing for the first team since he’s already 22 and there’s already a bit of a logjam at striker with Crew 2. I would much rather see Chase Adams or Brent Adu-Gyamfi with the first team, although neither are target men
