Atalanta can’t win either of their games now. Oh well, it was a long shot. Too bad they didn’t fire Mourinho sooner and there would have been more of a chance.

Europa League is very winnable next season. Between Chelsea and Roma, really.

Yeah, if Bologna had Loserinho instead of us, it would've been us in CL now.

This guy is the biggest loser in football, every team he touches can't fire him fast enough.

Do teams from UCL not drop down anymore from next season? If so, I guess Chelsea, Tottenham, and Roma will be the teams to beat in Europa League. Maybe Fiorentina if they win conference league this season and qualify for Europa League next.

Nope. Teams don’t drop down anymore. Which will likely be bad for Italy’s coefficient.

Juve win or lose doesn't matter now. Atalanta have to lose their last 2 matches. I think Lega Serie A should have confidentially interfered to the clubs to get 6th team in CL,like Atalanta/Genoa/Monza playing with their c side.

It does. If Juve loses Atalanta needs only 2 points (even H2H/better GD against Juve but lost the H2H vs Bologna). If Juve draws or wins they need 3 points.

There wouldn't be any new manager bounce for de rossi if mourinho sacked earlier during difficult runs of fixtures , the reason friedkins sack him before 4 easy fixtures was to trick idiots into thinking Mourinho was the sole problem of the club.

Mou would probably still have a job if he trusted his players, Svilar would've saved him.

It remains to be seen and could be wrong and hope I am but I seriously doubt Atalanta will lay down against Toro in front of their own fans just to help out Roma.

Also because they’ve always hated Roma traditionally.

There seems to be a jovial crowd in Bergamo.

    Edit:

Gianluca Scamacca scores in the 26th minute on a show from the top of the box.

    Dea 1- Toro 0!

Saying this team is "cursed" is an understatement. Roma's misfortunes are far worse than that.

Atalanta brushing Torino aside. Looks like the final nail in the CL coffin is going in today....and this long drawn out affair is finally over.

A few large bids will come in at half time for random players from their academy and they’ll lose in the second half. Trust the process.

I had no hope with Atalanta, they always start the season slow and end the season strong, it’s the way they are sadly for us

Disastrous ending of the season. And nothing going our way on the scoreboard. I'm sure Mourinho is smiling.

Our record against top 5 is 0-2-8 so I'd say we don't really deserve to be in CL tbf. Would have taken an enormous amount of luck to have it happen. We had it in our own hands multiple times in the last few weeks but lost all the important games.

If DDR can keep up his record, we should finally get CL next season

not much we can do about the first half of the season being a disaster at this point

No European games next season for Napoli will be rough fighting against for CL spots. At least Osimhen and possibly Kvara are gone.

Yep, that record does speak volumes.

I posted a few games into DDR's reign, pointing out that 70pts (give or take a pt) was going to be the likely target to secure CL. Interesting that despite that abysmal record, a win against Empoli tonight means we'll have come up (more or less) a solitary win shy of 5th place. If I'm not mistaken, Lazio didn't have a stellar record against the top teams last season, yet they finished second by consistently beating the 'lower' sides.

But we had our chances, just weren't good enough ultimately to overturn an abysmal start to the season and we've got what we deserve in the end.

Dropping 5pts vs Salernitana and Verona in the opening games was unforgivable. No excuses for that. I was furious at the time, knowing full well it would likely hurt us in the end.

Ultimately, despite a valiant effort on two fronts, we couldn't make amends for a dreadful first half of the season.

Fair enough. Looking on the bright side, missing the Champions League next season also spares us a lot of embarrassment. I mean, can you imagine Cristante or Pellegrini up against Manchester City or Real Madrid? That’s a disaster waiting to happen!

I know things are different now than they used to be but I recall many players played their tails off until the end because they would get bonuses or rewarded depending on what place their club would finish in the table.

This was aside from the money they received from making the Champions the UEFA/Europa Leagues.

I’m not sure if this still applies today but that’s the way in used to be and this could be another reason on why some clubs play all out until the end.

Happy for Udinese and Cagliari that they get to remain in the Serie A.

For Udinese especially, it will have been their first relegation to the Serie B in 30 years.

    Good for them!
