Pre-match: San Jose Earthquakes - Austin FC (Saturday, 5/25) pregame thread

Bummer about Ricketts. Between getting bounced around from unused sub on the Quakes bench to The Town I think he has about 3 starts this year. He sometimes looks really promising but needs more playing time to learn his position (Quakes you had one job). He wasn’t getting enough playing time before and now he’s out for how many weeks? Hamstring? Don't know. I think he had another injury before this one also. Again, no idea what the injury was. We used to know what the injury was generally from the injury reports, but now it’s just a generic “lower body” - yeah that narrows it down - for a soccer player! Interesting that most other teams are more specific than we have been recently. This is Montreal (long list BTW):

I had the same thought last week. It didn't pan out.

 

I’ll never give up on the team, but I’m starting to get a little sense of dread at the games, sort of waiting for the next gut punch. That’s what 4 losses out of 5 at PPP will do. Hopefully *this time* it will be different. And why can’t we ever have a goonie game instead of being goonied all the time?

 

Suddenly rainy or overcast day after a week of good weather. That’s how you know it’s Quakes game day in 2024!

Beer Fest today was good. Quakes should do this every month. Also, the Old Greenwood BBQ truck was awesome
