Regardless of whether Leeds get promoted, Rodon will have plenty of suitors.

Emerson has moved to the 'will be sold' category.

Looking at that list, we have 13 players that the manager doesn't fancy. Shocking. It just shows how poor our recruiting has been.

It's not really shocking is it? They're all internationals. They just don't fit the system that a new manager wants played.
You called Gil crap on the previous page, but he left on loan, won a European trophy and is a Spanish international. He just doesn't suit Spurs (or modern) play.

Supposedly AC Milan are interested in Emerson.

Ryan Sessegnon is the first to go, as Spurs will not be exercising the option to extend his contract for another year. No dislike for the guy, but it's time to stop investing money and energy in him. He's only 24, so maybe he can catch on somewhere else.

He was progressing quite well at one time too. I think Brennan will come good so he must stay.

I said in the other thread we need about 10 players. Let's break it down.

Goalkeeper: We are pretty well set with Vicario, Forster and either Austin or Whiteman (I can't keep those two straight). Vicario is quality and the other two will be kept because they are English.

Defense: We need three. We need fullbacks who will actually challenge Udogie and Porro, unlike Davies and Royal who are clearly backups. And we need a fourth center back. Could be hard to get a good one in when there are three quality CBs already. Could Ashley Phillips be far enough along?

Front line: I think we need three across the front. We have Son, Kulu, Richarlison and Johnson. Need a backup at every spot. Werner could be a useful option. Doubtful whether Parrott or Scarlett are ready. If Richy is sold, we need four.

Midfield: This is complicated. We will keep Maddison, Bissouma, Sarr, Bentancur and Skipp (because he is English and club trained). Bergvall is under 21, so he doesn't count against the 25 man limit, but will he be ready to step up? Not right away, I don't think. So we need two or three, I reckon. More if any of the above are sold.

So that adds up to 8 or 9 quality players needed. As I said, this may not be feasible in one window. Getting enough English players will be a challenge. I am not a sentimental guy. I'm willing to sell anyone IF there is a better player to replace him. Or even sell a big star to finance getting 2 or 3 new guys in. In Ange I trust.

I'm no aficionado on football tactics and requirements but that was very comprehensive and sounds about right. Thank you Funkfoot.

"Ryan Sessegnon has been released by Tottenham Hotspur, and now the door is wide open for West Ham United to sign him on a free transfer.

Tottenham signed Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham in the summer of 2019 for around £25 million, but have now released him after five years in north London.

Now West Ham are in a great position to pick up the 24-year-old. He could well be a superb signing for us, in spite of his obvious struggles with Spurs – one man’s trash is another man’s treasure and all that.

Incoming Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui needs to strengthen his squad in pretty every much department this summer."
    Well done Funkfoot. Good insight.

Hopefully this is the beginning of the Deadwood Clearout.

I am concerned about goalkeeper though. If anything happens to Vicario, Forster is rubbish and we have never seen (and probably will never see) either of the reserve goalies play as we seem to have a club policy of refusing to play youth players in the first team.

The more I keep thinking about it, the more I want us to retain Timo Werner. He can't finish for shit, but he's far more dynamic than anyone else we have up front (including Johnson), takes on defenders one-on-one and gets in decent crosses. He's never anonymous on the pitch, unlike literally every other attacking player in the squad. Johnson is supposed to be the one that can come off the bench and give us something when things aren't going right, but I think it's Werner. Johnson's more versatile, but Werner's more dependable, as daft as that sounds.

If Ange doesn't agree, off he goes and I won't be bothered. But given my druthers, I'm hoping he sees him as worth keeping on.

caveat: This opinion is subject to change at any moment's notice.

Oh yeah, I agree. That just isn't the top priority atm. We really need to get some other English players in, because being English is what's keeping these guys on the roster.

Supposedly we have until June 14 to activate the buy option in the loan agreement. Given the likelihood that we won't be able to bring in as many players as we need, I think he is good option for now, even if he isn't the long term solution.

Mental that Sess is still only 24. If he could still have a career.

OK, Fabrizio Romano says Spurs are looking at so many players, he can't list them all. Says we could bring in 4 or 5. Nothing close to "here we go," I suppose.

Fabrizio now reporting Spurs are negotiating to extend Werner's loan for another year. I think it's a good move. He knows the system and played pretty well for us. And it's one less spot to fill.

And Brandon Austin has signed a new deal through 2029. You can't coach being English!

Romano says AC Milan are interested in Royal and Genoa are negotiating for Spence. AZ Alkmaar are interested in Parrott (I would like to see him a get a chance to show what he can do in preseason).

Alas, we missed out on Mbappe.

Bullet dodged, more like. Wage demands well in excess of what Dane Scarlett's backup merits.

    Well played, Mr. Levy.

"Toney has been on Tottenham’s radar for some time after Football Insider first revealed in November last year the club were ready to go head-to-head with some of their Premier League rivals to secure his signature.

Despite only scoring four goals in 17 appearances since his return from an eight-month ban in January, the Brentford forward’s stock remains high after he was included in England’s training squad ahead of the upcoming European Championships" Someone please tell me why we'd buy Toney after scoring only 4 goals in 17 matches. I don't think we should go ahead.

Spurs will not pick up the option year on Tanganga's contract. So I guess he doesn't want to join Milwall and, with no other buyers on the horizon, they are letting him go for free. Unfortunate to miss out on even a small transfer fee, but Spurs have bigger fish to fry.
