It's clear the USA has been negligent about it's interests in the Pacific with far too much involvement and money spent in the Mid East region. https://www.theguardian.com › world › 2022 › apr › 20 › the-deal-that-shocked-the-world-inside-the-china-solomons-security-pact The deal that shocked the world: inside the China-Solomons security ... 20 apr 2022China's foreign ministry announced late on Tuesday that a security deal with Solomon Islands had been signed. https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2024/03/29/us-china-taiwan-marines/ I've been reading some comments in here on the "vulnerability" of China in conflict, but the article underwrites what I see as the big handicap for the USA, the enormous amount of water between the USA and strategical situated flashpoints.
This is nothing new. The US had to reorient when the Warsaw Pact/Soviet Union disintegrated. And again in mid 2000s when the primary threat was not states, but terrorists. And so there is another reorientation regarding China. A quality military will reorient.
The island hopping strategy outlined to me seems a disadvantage strategic reorientation. Given that with the development of hypersonic missiles aircraft carriers become sitting ducks, there's a lot of water between the USA and the islands in that strategy.
Yes, bro, you won't be drafted. But if that is your tipping point, you should probably already renounce. If it gets to the point where a draft will be re-instituted, then there is already a lot of other shit going on for which you should renounce and leave.
That is writing like the military is unaware, which would be shocking to me. It's not like the Houthis have been using missiles, some suspected to be supersonic, against ships.
Houthi hypersonic missiles is talk. Hypersonic missiles in the Pacific is a real threat. US tests hypersonic missile in Pacific as it aims to keep up with China and Russia CNN on MSN.com|11 days ago The US Air Force has tested a hypersonic cruise missile in the Pacific for the first time, in what analysts say is a signal to China that Washington still competes in a weapons arena where many perceive Beijing to have a distinct advantage.
