The "Yoro loaned back to Lille" idea sounds good but only if Yoro is ok with that as well. It sounds like he wants Madrid, but if the fit isn't there it's not like he's lacking for options next year. That Lille is in the Champions League (well, qualifying rounds anyway but have to think they're favored to reach the used-to-be-group-stage part of it) might help us somewhat if that's an idea.

Because you're right, there's a bit of a squeeze on available minutes if we bring in Yoro now, but I also think it would be short-sighted if we altogether passed on a highly rated CB talent because we ultimately renewed a mid-30s player - admittedly, a Madrid cantanero who deserves the highest level of respect - who had inconsistent form this year, to put it in the kindest terms I can think of. It would be best if there was a way to do it where it doesn't have to be one or the other, but, well, 25-player squad limits has its impacts. If we have eight players along the backline - two for each position - obviously any additional player would be taking away from elsewhere in the squad, to say nothing about how you work the minutes' allocation.

And of course I'm paying zero attention to Marín in all of this.

Yes...a lot depends on how highly the club rates him.....if they think he's world beater...then we must go for him now whatever the deal type is....

And like you said, how much does he want Madrid? Enough to wait for another year?

this is where the agent comes in, am I managing a transaction or am I working on behalf of my client and what is in the best interest for his career

This may or may not be fantasy in these times but if i'm the player, i tell my agent, who works for me, where i want to go play and, unless impossible between the buying and selling club, to make it happen, if the choice is between these two clubs i should be well paid at either one, i just have to decide which one i'd rather play for, or is that too simplistic....

Yea. Camavinga got Barnett a few months before he left Rennes because he only wanted RM move. Florentino and Barnett remained on good terms even when there was tension between Bale and ZZ.

We don't know for certain if Nacho is staying. We saw some reports in the last 10 days saying we don't want to overpay for Yoro and we have cooled on this transfer. Then news comes out that Nacho is staying. Could just be a negotiating tactic.

Wouldn't mind if Nacho stayed, he's my wife's favorite Madrid player along side Vinicius and she was bummed out when i told her he's going to the MLS, but ideally i want us to sign our next young CB this summer. Yoro or someone else does need to understand what the usual path for young CBs has been with us the last decade or so. You are looking at 2 full seasons of backup role. If you don't have the patience for that, you're not gonna last here. Militao and Rudiger aren't going anywhere for the next few years but if Alaba leaves after next season there is a chance that a young CB coming in this summer could be ready to be first backup.

I considered PSG a legit threat regarding Camavinga and Tchouameni since they had the likes of Mbappe then. But both still rejected PSG.

Regarding Yoro, not too fussed given if he ends up at this version of PSG, it's just for financial reasons and such a player was never gonna be a good fit at RM anyways. French players who wanted to be at RM like Mendy, Camavinga and Tchouameni ended up getting their wish. So it's upto Yoro as contract situation gives him an advantage too.

Also CB market has been so good for years unlike RB and ST where quality options are few and far between. We replaced Ramos, Varane, Pepe seamlessly and even got Alaba and Rudiger on bosman. So I don't think RM will get desperate and overpay if other clubs involved are hoping for an auction.

Yeah, not too bothered about Yoro either. If the club rates him highly we would like to have him join us if that is his wish, if the transfer doesn't make sense we move on and find another young CB. If Nacho stays we are good for next season. Absolutely no need to be desperate.

You don't say. As I said days ago...

He won't just go where his agent tells him to if we truly want him and he has a significant preference for Madrid.

The only issue is fans who are impatient with microwave mindsets which harp, complain and throw tantrums if they can't get what they want now now now.

From what I understand is the agent works for the player and can be fired.

Unless the player is made of weaksauce and follows what his agent tells him.

Endrick transfer done, Mbappe transfer probably done. Yoro apparently prefers RM move.

I think Davies interest has cooled off due to Mendy's performance at RM and Davies getting benched at Bayern due to poor defense.

Our only real concern in the medium- to long-term is what we do at the fullback positions, but I don't even really fault the club in this situation because fullback right now is probably the most talent-starved position in world football right now. Even some of the biggest names at the position are big names because they're attack-minded but have real deficiencies defensively. I'm laughing at all these "Best XI 2023-'24" lineups that have Frimpong as a RB, I mean, shit, Xabi hasn't used Frimpong as a proper RB all season and, if anything, has only pushed him further and further away from defensive responsibilities the longer the season has progressed, I like the guy a lot but he's not a f*ckin' right back!

Carvajal and Mendy having resurgent seasons has, at least for the time being, really helped alleviate the concerns for 2024-'25, but I'd be surprised if Carvajal maintains this form 2-3 years down the road.

Lucas might walk into most teams first teams as a starting RB.

Gvardiol is being used a LB by City...

Says a lot about the options out there.

I’d still go for Davies for that very reason, not many LB/RB come available in the market- especially if we can get for a decent price.

RB - can we convert Militao? He’s actually pretty good there.

Tournaments are won with backs like Mendy. That's why Marcelo sat on bench most of his career when big cup matches were played.

    Carvajal is hard to replace.
