I honestly hope this game is boring as hell and we win 1-0.

Would mean we need the limp version of City that we have occassionally seen this season to turn up and that we would actually need to show some compactness and backbone defending (pack the midfield please Erik).

With a sneaky Amad Liverpool style breakaway goal maybe from Rashford (given he owes us) if not Amad to win it.

I think if we play 100 times then this maybe happens once at best, so pretty unlikely but then so was us beating Liverpool to get here :)

Most important thing is to still be in the game second half, perhaps not give them a goal after 12 seconds this time and maybe also pickup people edge of the box for a change ;)

In all the Sheik years at City, they've probably failed to turn up once. That was the last time we beat them at OT and they still were better than us.

Like they have ALWAYS been up for this game. I know a lot of teams see us as weak, but they never lower their level vs us.

I know they tend to turn up against us (who doesnt).

The point was about the admittedly few games (I have watched) where they didnt turn up this season and looked meh.

Hojlund on the bench, so false #9 time again.

No Casemiro - not even on the bench, so presumably injured.

Martial not involved - so reports he didnt travel with the team seem accurate.

Suggests to me the tactics are stay in the game by packing midfield and hopefully bring on Amad and Hojlund to do damage later.

Possible job on the line and the hill he wants to die on is McT as a 9?

    Bold move.

MEN suggests Casemiro is on the bench - so maybe a line missing from the clubs twitter graphic.

Edit: seems clubs graphic has Kambwala where other media outlets show Casemiro

The Defense has looked better playing like this the last three games, including loss to Arsenal.. the extra midfielder helps.

McT isn’t playing like an extra midfielder. He’s floating around up front. I would argue Hojlund presses better from the front.

The only chance we have is Amrabat, Mainoo, and Bruno play the game of their lives. If that midfield has their way, we will get rolled.

I would argue coaches are superstitious. We have put in better performances and the defense has looked miles better since Palace. Why change something that ain't broken. McT up top to start then in the 60th pull him off for Razzie.

It's not just that, that midfield can hold it's own for maybe 60-70 minutes. We really need the front 3 to not be wasteful in front of goal. We can't fall behind early and we need to score a couple so when they apply pressure late, we have the room.

Nice to see all 40 of City’s fans showed up for the match.

Well, because he isn’t scoring and Hojlund is in less minutes. We need that focal point and McT ain’t it. We aren’t going to get many chances today, we need to take the ones we get and Hojlunds conversion rate is still ridiculously good.

Wow could have had an early chance but Rashford first touch was shocking.

And now City might get an early penalty.

Also it looks like Bruno is playing as the false 9

It’s clear we’re not going to high press. Bruno keeps retreating back into midfield to maintain shape. Seems like we’re trying to crowd out their midfield and let their back line have the ball. Not the worst plan.

Well the tactics look right so far as it goes - we are playing very narrow and compact on defence.

City create less from wide areas, so Garnacho and Rashford narrow on defence.

Bruno seems highest on D with Garnacho and esp Rashford looking to break it seems.

Just can't afford any mistakes ...

disappointing to see Rashford losing out to Walker like that.

pace is the only thing he really has. not sure he went full tilt in either race
