‘Following his exclusion from England's provisional squad for the Euros, Ten Hag says Marcus Rashford is determined to regain his best form.
"That is your career - ups and downs. A down can give you fuel and that's what I see in training. He is highly motivated. Speak with your feet, highly intelligent, he has had a big career, I'm sure he will get over this and get more goals." ‘

Why would Bowen go there? Pretty much the main man at West Ham. Why would West Ham sell if not for a bizarre amount. Think the whole article is odd.

Yeah, he may not do. The main argument would be that he's turning 28 this year so I think after this window "bigger" clubs will probably start to become more reluctant to pay a substantial fee for him from here. Newcastle probably have a higher ceiling as a club over the next five years so it might be his best chance to step up while he's still got a good amount of his prime left.

However I've just seen he's contracted with West Ham until 2030 so like you say West Ham will probably demand an eye watering amount.

Does anyone still expect Kieran Trippier to find his fitness and rediscover his long lost form in time for the Euros in 3 weeks?

ThIs idea that he's going to seamlessly slot in at left back, after only playing 72 minutes of football since the start of February, seems just a little fanciful at the minute.

Gomez would be the better bet.

As things stand Joe Gomez appears all we've got. I just hope Southgate has got Mitchell, Hall or Colwill on speed dial for that moment when Luke Shaw inevitably cries off.

It's very hard to and it's more than just his fitness issues. He's not necessarily been consistently bad all season but he's had his worst individual campaign for as long as I can remember. At 33 that's not likely to just be temporary loss of form. Given his lack of form, age and fitness issues I don't really want him in the squad personally but having him there as a likely starter for a position that isn't his own is a worry.

I can't imagine we'd select outside the squad, wouldn't seem great man management to select a 33 man squad, then pick someone from outside those people. Seems strange we've limited ourselves so much in the left back position with the squad selection, not really sure why we didn't at least name one in the wider selection to cover for further injuries. Would have made more sense than Quansah's selection.

I imagine if it comes down to it TAA and Branthwaite will both be under consideration as left backs.

Would be quite something that a player Southgate has never been truly convinced works as a right back in his system ends up getting minutes at left back.

Clearly Southgate genuinely thinks Trippier and Gomez are the best options after Shaw ahead of everyone else.

I have a bad feeling that this left back issue is going to come back and bite Southgate’s ass! It’s such an unstable position with not ( presuming Shaw doesn’t make it ) having a natural left back and having a first choice who is a right back and out of form will surely be targeted during these Euro’s. If we play France, it will give me kittens seeing Trippier against their pace.

He didn’t even seem to get asked why he dropped Chilwell and didn’t include Mitchell or Hall.

We should be fine in the group stages but against better teams I think there's a chance it's a big issue going forward. Foden/Grealish on the left wing without an overlapping left back with attacking threat could be very easy to contain when they have the ball. I think there's a chance we just look very side to side/uninspiring at times.

Our attacking options are slightly resemblant of Spain's over the last few years from a stylistic point of view. Not many runners and no real 1v1 threat, just loads of 10s and half space players. They've really struggled to break down resolute teams during this period and are pretty relieved they now have players like Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams.

Let’s just hope Southgate has some sort of genius ideas up his sleeve when it comes to the big games with that left back issue but he’s not exactly daring when it comes to the crunch and as he’s said many times, player X doesn’t play there for their clubs so he can’t play there for England. Southgate isn’t know for his innovation and he will just stick Trippier there and hope for the best and then wonder ( scratching his head ) what went wrong in an attacking sense down the left hand side when most of us can call this now.

Of course Trippier doesn’t play left back for his club.

His face injury healed up quickly despite the pain he was in rolling on the pitch.
    He’s tough.

If it goes wrong then Saka goes to left back, he's got a great character and is hardly Anthony from Man Utd - he'll fix the problem for us either in the knock outs or after Palmer becomes undropable after he's destroyed one of the group opponents with a hat trick.
