Fulham needs another American as Ream and Jedi are probably both gone.

    Called into USMNT camp.

I'll be interested to see if he pulls out because of his wonky ankle.

Let's not forget that Daniel Farke (former Norwich Manager) is the manager at Leeds right now. He brought Josh into Norwich when he was there, so there is a pretty strong link that is more than just a random rumor.

Posters also mentioned how dreadful he was in the PL a few years ago and his lingering ankle injuries since the World Cup that could prevent him from moving on. I admit I am pretty biased but I don't think his former PL spell should really be factored into the current evaluation of Josh. For one, he was played as a wide midfielder for almost all of his minutes in the PL. That Norwich team was awful all the way around. No offensive player stood a chance. The ankle injuries are very concerning though.

He should rest this summer so that wherever he goes, he will be as good as can be, health wise.

He should. It's a short career with ever-shortening off-seasons and there'll be other summer MNT tournaments but he's hot right now and another season in the Championship is not in his interests, or the the MNT's either.

Rest the ankle, be sure(er) of passing the medical, make the best transfer possible and look to the World Cup.

Posters pose and posers post. What's your point?

If Sargent's ankle is solid, he should play, but if (as we suspect) it isn't, then he shouldn't.

I can’t see Sarge passing on an opportunity to get back on the team

Sargent training alone with the NT... it probably is just "load management", but doesn't inspire confidence about his health

Agree but likely what they did with Adams before and gradually upped his workload. The longer the US stays alive in the tournament the stronger Sargent could become.

If he's training with the squad, then he's probably OK
    Why?

I mean, yes, it's possible that a player who missed 20 straight games with an injury and spent the rest of the season - another 20 games, plus the playoffs - nursing it becomes stronger. The thing is, it's just as possible that he becomes weaker or makes no progress at all.

I get that this is the Copa America, which is a heck of a lot more important than a CONCACAF championship, but the squad already contains Pepi, Balogun (who could do with a confidence boost) and Haji, and Weah has played CF at Lille. That should be enough for a 6-game tournament (assuming the US reaches the final). If it isn't, call up Frerreira or Vazquez.

Sarge is 24, not 34. He will get other tournaments. Offers? Not so certain.

He definitely doesn't appear to be full go at training and he's not training with the full team and seems like he's doing more rehab work for now.

We'll see where that is over the next four days but the deadline for the roster is June 12 I believe (though an injured player can be replaced up to 24 hours before the first game).

Didn’t Gregg say that Sargent is out for Colombia and a doubt for Copa?

    Not exactly.

“We’ve been training with Josh both in the gym on the field, and he’s not going to be fit to play in the Colombia game,” Berhalter told reporters at his press conference, as quoted by ESPN.

“We’ll have to see if he makes it for the Brazil game, and then we’ll have to make a decision if he makes it in the Copa América roster.”

Ok, I read that much more negatively, but I guess on the face of it it's pretty neutral re: Copa participation.

He needs to shut it down for the summer and make sure he’s ready to go in August.
