He only played part of the second half against Brazil and the whole match against Paraguay.
Granted, he did look good in that small sample of minutes but the other two played more this cycle.

Navas verified that he is retiring from the National team so Costa Rica is gonna be significantly easier than it needs to be.

    Maybe.
Alfaro will have them prepared for us though and playing like a team.
We have to be efficient with our chances.

    Speaking of opponent players...
...Lucas Paquetá is in big trouble due to allegedly breaking betting rules and intentionally getting cards to affect betting outcomes.
A 10 year club ban is expected.
One would think his National Team will probably disassociate from him as well.
    That is bad, bad stuff.

haha futbolred put up this team (2 LBs :) starting. Love how the commentators crap on call ups but then mention 2 pretty much retired players and 2 Lbs in a starting line up + pretty much no one new. Like Cetre, or guys we have out there in Argentina.

    Arquero: Kevin Mier
Defensas: Cristian Borja, Andrés Llinás, Willer Ditta, Gabriel Fuentes
Volantes: Juan Camilo Portilla, Ian Poveda, Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, Wilmar Barrios
Delanteros: Mateo Cassierra y Falcao García

That is a pretty good team too. Although yes, it does have questions.
I think I would add Bacca instead of Falcao. I was tempted to put Enamorado instead of Muriel but he has to work on his shooting a bit.
Combine my squad with Futbolred's squad and Add Chunga and a few other guys like Solis and Gomez, Cucho etc. and that could be a heck of a team that would not be that much worse than the real roster we are sending to the Copa. At least be favored to make it out of the Group stage.

yea I like Enamorado but till he leaves Junior he won't get called. Thing is these guys Jobs are reporting on players and the NT. The best they can do is put FKING FALCAO AND CUADRADO !!!

It's like before the 2014 WC they were asking fans on the street about the NT and they are like Asprilla and Pibe. It's like WTF the last time you followed the NT?

I can forgive going hey el Pibe is better than James but going hey call el Pibe instead of James is fking insane.

Probably true about Enamorado but the kid has talent. He may get called up to a camp if Junior makes a deep run in the Libertadores and he plays well though.

he won't tho camps are usually players no in the playoffs of the league (which are too fking long.... no one really gets a break because the playoffs are over a month long)

I do like the camps it shows the NT coaches are actually scouting the league. Wonder if next summer if we dont go to Gold Cup(rumor CONCACAF will invite us) if we will do a training camp with guys who are off season so coach can pretty much call anyone who he wants to train.

He needs to have a solid list of 40-50 players he watching with a ton of them never meeting the rest of the team

We need LBs, a BOX to Box and a #9

the rest of the team is set. Tho think Duran is that #9 and Rios/Castano is the box to box. LB tho none of the 4/5 he called is all that great they are serviceable but we need a team to go to 2026 looking to take the title back to South America

Changing gears, What I expect against USA:

    ---------------Vargas----------
    Muñoz-----Cuesta----Lucumí--Mojica

    ------------Lerma----Castaño---------
    -----------------Carrascal-----------------

    JArias----------Santos Borre---------Diaz.

I really do hope we experiment against Bolivia. Lorenzo does not seem to do that often but maybe he will take a page out of Pekerman's book who always seemed to experiment against Bolivia.

    Maybe something like this:

    ----------------Montero--------------------
    Santi------Mina---Davinson----Machado

    -------------Ríos----Castaño------
    -------------------JuanFer----------------

    Yaser-------------Córdoba----------Sini

James basically the halftime Super Sub role he had against Spain in both games because he has almost no minutes played in a couple months.

    1. Is Sini fit? He hasn’t played a game in over a month

    2. Same with Lerma…one 14 min appearance in the past month does not convince me…

Tournament starts in a month. Literally everybody on the team will be out of match rhythm. As long as he's fit and healthy, does it really matter?

Well it's a good thing that we have 2 friendlies against easy teams to warm up. Honestly aside from Brazil there's no team that I am really thinking will push us to play at our best.

I heard both will be ready by the friendlies. Lerma we do not have to worry about.
Sini is the one I would worry about based on history. Injury prone is his middle name.

USA is not guaranteed to be easy but we shall see. I am biased here since I root for them too.
Colombia usually beats them so I see no reason that will change unless Pulsic and Weah abuse Mojica/Machado. That is the weakness on D.

I root for them too but they're not a strong team. The sad reality is that the US still needs more work especially if they want to take full advantage as hosts when the world cup comes around.

They've yet to beat a strong opponent and they've even lost to opponents weaker than us by miles if you look at their results.

True. But it is all about how they match up with us. Kinda like how they struggle against weak El Salvador or Trinidad or undermanned Jamaica but still get up to beat Mexico.
If Pulisic, Reyna, Weah are one -on-one with Mojica or Machado they will be tough to stop.
But as I alluded to I think Colombia wins as they usually do against them. (Just do not think it will be automatically easy.)

Just wanna remind ppl that when Colombia is “favorite” it doesnt perform very well ..

We used a B team some Copas ago against the Ticos and lost so..

As I said in another thread, that is the reason why it is being played in the USA.
No other Country can guarantee that amount of money to participating Federations within the sixteen team tournament structure.
