Ledezma on the bench again for PSV. The title hangover is real as Eindhoven down 1-0 at HT.

He went unused in a 1-1 draw.

If he doesn't get into a game like this, it's pretty obvious where he stands.

And today - he stands on the field! Subbed on in the 85th minute. 6/6 passing and a 30 yard shot. They led 2-1, got an own goal right after for 3-1. Bosz threw him a bit of a bone.

i thought he wasnt good enough for PSV?!?!

people on this thread hated on me for saying he would get minutes this year ....annnnnd he did!

I hope he stays and fights for a place next year...he is good enough for that team....and I reckon they will sell some players this summer to make room....

Maybe you said he'd get minutes, but I don't think garbage minutes in the dead rubber final game of the season against a bottom-feeder is what you had in mind

    minutes are minutes

they wouldve given him zero if they thought he had no chance of playing next season

they barely played pepi and we all know how good he is

Emerson Hyndman got Premier League minutes in a dead rubber final.

it doesn’t mean he’s a Premier League player

That’s not how it works. Teams give players who they have no intention of keeping minutes all the time.

In his only season in senior football he was a regular rotator (started 14 of 32 league games, finished 4 of them, off the bench for 9) for an for NYC FC team which finished outside the expanded (distended?) playoffs, crashed out of the Open Cup in the first round and was eliminated in the Leagues Cup Round of 32.

It was his first proper pro season after years ravaged by injury, so there's absolutely zero grounds for sneering there. Quite the opposite, bur neither is there anything to say he's got any future at PSV.

The likes of Utrecht, Herenveen or Nijmeegen? Possibly, but not a CL side.

The lack of an EU passport means most of Eredivisie isn't going to happen.

PSV was a tough side to break into at the best of times - and especially this. year. It's pretty clear Ledezma is not of the Tillman/Bakayoko/chucky level. But the range of "Eredivisie level" players is pretty wide. PSV management was always relatively high on Ritchie, but he's just not good enough to bump what they've got going on. Too bad he couldn't get loaned to a Vitesse or Volendam or RKC where he might have helped out a bit and we might have gotten a better sense of whether this is the right league for him.

I'd imagine we'll find out pretty soon if PSV see him in their long-term plans. His contract expires after this upcoming season, which means if they don't extend, he can start free transfer negotiations Jan 1, 2025.

    True that. Apologies.

Apparently the current non-EU minimum salary for over-20s is just a shade over €500k, which we can assume Ledezma isn't making (Capology has him on €350k FWIW).

Maybe he's been allowed to stay because he extended his original contract until summer 2025, but he will have to be paid that Eredivisie minimum if he signs with a new club and there's no evidence that he's €500k good at the moment.

  15. Contract doesnot matter. The moment he celebrated his 20iest birthday, automatically his paycheck went to the minimum non EU salary.

Its a shame. He had an excellent U20 cycle with the US a few years ago. Was starting to get minutes at PSV as well, before the injury.

  17. Ruud van Nistelrooij was very positive about Richie, when he was coaching Young PSV. He pulled him into the first team selection when he was appointed first team coach. According to club watchers Ruud was thinking about two options for Richie. The first one was to get him the needed Eredivisie experience by loaning him out to Vitesse, but he was also in doubt, because he might need him at PSV during the competition.

SAF supposedly loved Jovan Kirovski too. Maybe it was because of returning from injury but he wasn’t very good in MLS.

I have been a huge Richie fan ever since the 2019 U20 WC. He was not even 100% due to coming off an injury and I was more impressed with him than anyone not named Richards, Dest, or Weah.

He has such great vision and technical flair. Such a fun player to watch. Problem with him is that injury, and from what I have seen I don't think he has ever fully recovered. I thought the MLS stint in NY was disappointing. He was making waves in MLS as a young kid at Salt Lake, in NY he was meh. He was always a bit on the marginal side athletically, even prior to the ACL, after it IDK.

Wishing him the best as he is one of my favorite US players. He was brilliant at Jong PSV and then had some key moments for the first team before that knee. Hopefully he can find his level and have a long pro career going forward.

I mean, this is all pretty subjective - and I'm guessing you mean it relative to Steve Bruce's praise - but I doubt a lot of neutrals would say Jovan was "not very good" in MLS. He was not exceptional, sure - and was not "praised by Sir Alf" good, I guess - but he played a lot both in LA and CO (when not hurt) and put up good numbers and very decent shifts.(and he always had a footspeed problem that haunted him a lot.)

There are guys who are starting in the Ered on some teams that would be hard pressed to get minutes on a better MLS team. The Eredivisie is probably not the problem - but PSV is a really tough team to crack these days. And Ledezma has yet to show he's anywhere close to as good as their best AMs - but those guys are pretty decent.

10 years ago, Julian Green was much touted as THE solution to the USMNT's midfield creativity problems and it's fair to say that he's never lived up to expectations. Similarly, Haji was another great white (or black) hope when he was at Schalke.

Both failed at those big clubs, so they left for lesser teams a lower divisions (Green) or a weaker league (Wright). Both have gone on to make perfectly decent careers and, in Wright's case, there's real chance of him still making it in the Top 5 or the CL teams in Tier II leagues.

Ledezma at PSV is a boat that's sailed but if his knee is recovered, there's no reason why he can't make a good career at Eredivisie or MLS level. Maybe better

I was referring to Ledezma in MLS - I barely remember if Jovan even played here. SAF supposedly was a fan of Kirovski - not just Steve Bruce.

    Because I enjoy it.
Because there are a lot of smart people on here.
Because I can learn from them.
Because a fair number of people like what I have to say.

    Any other questions?
