MLS announcer gets into an embarrassing mess as he doesn't realize his mic is still on. #RCTID 🌹Portland Timbers ended up winning the game 4-2 so maybe the commentator should stick to his jobpic.twitter.com/g68wdo9gsG— World Soccer Talk (@worldsoccertalk) May 16, 2024
If a Euro league had a gaffe like that WST would talk about the authentic passion and how the commentators really care unlike in MLS.
Another zinger from WST This is the most publicity MLS has had on late night TV in a very, very long time pic.twitter.com/llyHjJpMKQ— World Soccer Talk (@worldsoccertalk) May 17, 2024
When Liverpool played typical 70s boring stuff the Kop used to chant "attack, attack, attack attack attack". During one such chant some wag released a cat on to the pitch at which point the kop switched to "a cat, a cat, a cat a cat a cat". I thought it was quite funny, though the cat looked a little freaked out.
Interesting read about the shifting media rights landscape and how it is affecting the approaches of some leagues: Could MLB nationalize its media rights? Why some clubs are pushing to end local TV deals ⤵️https://t.co/XoggXZ49YS— The Athletic MLB (@TheAthleticMLB) May 17, 2024 Of note, Roku is paying $10M/year to carry the Sunday Morning games. Peacock paid triple that....
Or will it? If it does will that mean MLS is doomed? I mean isn't MLS only surviving because of Messi? The TV ratings are declining. There were visibly empty seats in San Jose. Columbus have no chance against [whatever they're called]. Trump is going to get back in. SpaceX is a disaster. The Yellowstone caldera is set to blow. The Sun is going to become a red giant. I think I just saw a piece of the sky fall. This is all really bad for MLS.
I remember when I used to have the occasional beer with that dude (not sure he was drinking though, thinking back). I didn't know him personally, but would end up sitting with folks who did before Timbers matches back in the USL days. Hell of a run he's had. Good dude.

Superb news. Not too great for people without season pass, but I'm guessing just MLS fans have it at this point. I wonder if ccc will make it's way to apple soon as well.
