Hopefully Pagliuca won't lose interest in his stateside team the way John Henry did.

When people talk about US players who would be a good fit for Wrexham, someone like Borto falls into that category.

Hard to say. I'm not sure any of us really have a good handle on Borto.

We've had a string of keepers at clubs like Fulham. Damian Las, for instance. He's now in the USL. Chituru Odunze was literally starting to make the first team bench for Leicester in the Premier League. Then last year he was playing for Charlotte's MLSNP team. So, who the hell knows? What we do know is that Alex was getting U20 callups. But has fallen behind all of the guys coming out of MLS actually getting first team minutes in terms of the U23 team. At some point you have to play first team games, and now Alex needs to look for that.

We have such an infinitesimally small success rate with keepers coming thru European academies.
They seem to hang around youth and reserve teams until they disappear. Fingers crossed on Kochen.

For a goalie like him he’s not going to get a starting opportunity in the Championship on loan but League One is probably the right level for him to go off on loan for now (whether that’s Wrexham or somewhere else).

It’s not as if an MLS team would take him as their starter right now so he needs to go where he can get first team reps.

Kochen can at least go be the primary starter at Barca B next year (and hopefully they get promoted to the Spanish second division).

    Weah could well stay.

He seems a better fit for what Giuntoli and Thiago Motta, if he does end up being the coach as it appears he will be, have in mind.

As Motta plays a back four, hopefully Weah stays.

The complicated Americanization of European soccer (msn.com)

Its also the case that there are so many clubs across Europe in financial distress that there are just a ton of opportunities.

The trend, particularly in regard to private equity firms, has been fueled most recently by the COVID effect, The Associated Press said. Many clubs were "distressed after COVID," 777 Partners Operating Partner Jonathan Lutzky said. The pandemic-fueled downturn allowed the Miami-based firm, which has stakes in clubs across Europe, to "get in at a good price point," Lutzky said. His story is not unique, either. COVID restrictions "kept fans out of the stands and costs rose," which in turn created "an opening for more U.S. investors to take a stake in the increasingly popular global sport," CNBC said. Often, this caused American investors to "snap up multiple teams and move toward a so-called 'multi-club' model."

Yeah, this has been well known for a while.

It's like they hated him when he was playing poorly and even more so when he was doing well.

    Either way couldn't win.

Maybe Juve can make some money off of him.

The season isn't over yet!! Utrecht won 3-1 yesterday against Rotterdam. They have another match against Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday as part of the playoff for a European Conference League place. Booth trying to make a late push for the Olympic roster. [His position is tough. Good players are going to be left off.]

Lund's healthy enough to sit on the bench in the return leg against VeneziAmerica, so I suppose it puts him on the borderline for upcoming USMNT availability. Less margin for error as low roster guy.

Venezia leading 1-0 aggregate, at home, & was the higher ranked team. So Palermo need to be +2 in the 90 to win/not get KO'ed. Game's on Fox networks, so you can watch thru incognito windows.

Golazo by Tessmann! Just lined it up from about 30, and solidly looped it over the keeper far post.

2-0 at the half. That’s plenty. Put important players on bench for next match

Here's the Tessmann goal. He should've spun around like Cantona. The second the Olympics are over, he's a guy we need to give another shot to with the senior team.

2-1 full time, late own goal but didn’t do anything. Venezia off to the finals. Tessmann big game and big goal. Will be assured a tough opponent next round

Regardless of whether Venezia win or lose in the final it's hard to argue that Tessmann doesn't deserve to be playing in a better league next year. There should be multiple teams inquiring about him this summer. The Olympics can only help as well.
