Ospina deserved a chance for all that he has done for us. He is a class act.
He should be treated with class.

maybe when he was back to playing and in form. Or if it was his last game and he was retiring. Do you think we should call Falcao as well? If we are using your logic with Ospina. I get it with James as we don't have other options but at GK we some we just need to give them a chance

Vargas is not that good and debuted at what 33(19 starts at 35.... kind of low)? We can't do the same with Mier (0 games at 23, when did he win with Nacional 2-3 seasons ago?) and pretty much wasted Montero(9 games at 29).

Chunga has 3 games at 32 but was finally given playing time like 3 years ago and isn't as good as Mier.

Ospina was our starter at the beginning of the cycle and one of our captains. Lorenzo is not just going to say okay you are injured and old dude so you will never get a chance again.
He gave him a chance in a match that was not important, against a Mexican "C" team.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

You are forgetting that Ospina has been the sure starter for over a decade, so whoever was on the bench was not going to get a lot of starts. Vargas is a good keeper, but he was the alternative, hence why so few games, but after Ospina's level declined, it is his spot to lose, and all Lorenzo has to do is find two good alternatives, that right now seem to be Mier and Montero, with Mier being lucky in the sense that he could find himself as the starter a lot sooner than Vargas did.

Chunga, Castellanos, Cuadrado, Quintana, etc got limited games because the starter was set and they were not as good in the limited playing time they got.

I got way taller from 17 to 21 he has time.

We will see how good he is next U20 but we need Gks and for our clubs to not just bring random keepers from Uruguay and Paraguay

Click bait. Also Ospina should not be in the list.

I like the article cause of the stats mostly.

Ospina was called up for our last two friendlies and the the Non-FIFA friendlies.
It makes sense that he will be on the list based on that. (But I rather Mier get a chance.)

Mier will be our starting GK at the WC. not brining him to Copa America seems like a massive mistake

I mean, he has a chance to be starter but Vargas and even Montero also have cases to be the starter.

It is his traditional "hot take".
He has had crazier takes though.

Mier has the potential to be starter and is playing well in Mexico.

Potential to be a starter in that he is talented.

But the dude hasn't played a single minute for Colombia yet...

i think if anything Ospina should have class himself and step aside. knowing he has
not had consistency for a while and is taking up a spot preventing Mier from gaining experience

He was our undisputed starter when Lorenzo took over. He is a good guy to have in the locker room.
The main reason he is not starting is because he got injured and Vargas stepped in and never looked back.

I am not one to judge when a player should move on or not. Not an easy decision and he has played for Colombia more than any other player. I let iconic players like that choose when they feel it is ready to be over and done with.
And I do not blame him for wanting to play for the Country he adores. Especially since he is probably one injury or red card away from maybe starting for us again. (Although I personally would play Montero.)
