I agree with you but not sure Lorenzo will call him up. He did not call him up much during qualifying when he was kinda healthy and playing.

    James is James.
He gets handled with kid gloves and like he is a saint.

JuanFer has actually gotten ignored during stretches of this cycle. Although he has been injured and has had his own issues. It just seems a bit different to me.

I also get a funny feeling the "Plan B" is just Carrascal, plan C could be Yaser.

And in a weird twist plan D could be going with the lineup before James was brilliant. That would be Cuadrado in the lineup.

Not very surprising but it has been leaked by Crystal Palace that Lerma and Muñoz will be called up for the Copa America.

We also know Vargas, Diaz, James and Lucumi are pretty much 100% shoo-ins to be on the roster.
JArias too. I will mention Santos Borre too even though I do not want to.

Everyone else has some doubts but some more than others.

think the starting line up is set and will be in other than DM partner for Lerma but both Castano + Rios will be going and LB

hopefully strikers will be based on who does best in the camp of Borja, Borre, Duran, Cassiera, Cordoba and any other surprise that isn't Falcao haha. Duran and Yaser should def be called with 26 spots as well as Mier.

The team looks pretty fking strong to me

Hope GKs - Vargas obviously and then he brings Mier as #3. #2 can be Montero or Ospina. Think Mier is a better goalie than both and is the future. Just hope he doesnt drop Mier to bring Montero or Ospina but those are the ones who will be called.

wingbacks LB well we get injured a lot here - would assume Machado if he back from injury and Borja but who knows for LB. RB he will bring Arias. Lucumi can play LB(already called) in a pinch and think Mosquera can play RB if needed and will be on the roster.

MF - please for the love of god no Uribe.

AMF - if No James then no #10 at all and play with 2 strikers. I wouldn't call Carrascal(not tearing up Russia and just an ok Macnelly type player), Quintero. Yaser can be a winger and sub for Diaz or Arias.

    ----------------Vargas-----------------
    Munoz---Mina/Cuesta---Lucumi----Borja
    --------Lerma-------Rios/Castano
    Arias---------James-------------Diaz
    ------------Duran-----------------

Outside of LB this is a team to destroy the world of man :) (sorry watch Lord of the Rings last night) or at least challenge for the cup.

We would have a pretty solid bench as well. Honestly his last call up of 26 for the Spain/Romania games with Mier for Ospina or Montero, Duran for Quintero, Fuentes out for Borja or Machado, I'd take out Cabal and bring in another striker or winger

Starting lineup is mostly set. The back line is not though other than Lucumi and Munoz as 100% starters.
I could see Davinson, Mina, Cuesta or even Mosquera starting. And LB is probably Borja but who knows? Mojica was mostly good in March. Machado is now back in France playing.

Things are heating up with Mier's Mexican team looking good in the Liguilla. Would not be shocked if they won the Mexican Championship. Could help him edge out Ospina but still favor the vet.

Uribe will probably be on the team. He is healthy again and started his last match in Qatar. (I hope I am wrong though.)

Oh, and the only way Duran starts over Santos Borre is if he is called up and scores at least brace against both USA and Bolivia in friendlies. And even then Santos Borre will probably get the nod.

The players will start arriving on the 26th at the training facility headquarters in Barranquilla. They will have physicals and start preparing for the Copa.
Things are about to get serious boys.:D

If everyone is healthy we can genuinely do this.

The mainstream media is sleeping on us but the podcasts and talks on social media has many people favoring us to challenge and actually win this.

Can we beat Uruguay or Argentina? We blew our win in Colombia vs Uruguay. We should have gotten the 3 points. In neutral ground can we beat them? Argentina defends on the day Messi is having haha

We may soon find out the answers to both questions.

Yes, We blew the lead against Uruguay. That said, we had Fabra at LB and no Lucumí who is probably our best CB this cycle.

And to say the USA is a Neutral site is technically accurate but let's face it, there will be way more Colombian fans at the match which could help us out a little bit.

Argentina in Miami would be epic and would feel like a World Cup Final. So many supporters from both countries that would be represented.

But one match at a time. Let's get three points against Paraguay and gain some confidence.

Oh , and Barrios was pretty horrendous in that Uruguay match as well. We don't have to worry about that guy anymore.

The difference between now and throughout our history is more,

Not that they "would" beat us as much as "could". Vice versa. They're capable of beating us but our level and results do speak that we can could do the same. It's no longer a 100% guaranteed result for teams that are traditionally better than us to actually win against us.

We should have won with 5 goals scored against Uruguay and it comes down more of bad luck rather than Uruguay being the better team.

I with complete confidence can see us in the finals.

Going back to roster speculation I am having a tough time figuring out which wingers will barely make the cut.
We all know Diaz and JArias are 100% starters. After that:

    1) Sini. I hear he is healthy and could be ready by June friendlies. But is it worth taking him if he has the high risk of just getting injured again?
2)Poveda. He was injured too but recovered weeks before Sini did. I like his skill set and he brings something different out wide. He was supposed to play in March for us against Spain and Romania so you know Lorenzo likes him.
    3) Cucho. Playing well in MLS / Concacaf Champions. Not great as a Left wing option or RW for that matter. More of a False 9.
    4) Gómez. I have to say if there is a dark horse to make the squad it is him. Sure, he is dominating MLS players but he is doing it in such a way that we all have to take notice.
He is speedy and skillful and- --hot take-- he has one of the best low shots in our whole entire player pool. He has good technique when kicking the ball towards the net and I rarely see him shoot it to the moon like a rocket. Shots are usually on target.
    5) Centré. The guy is kicking some arse in Argentina. They are calling him the Colombian Kevin de Bruyne (In which he joked and said he is more Kevin de Brownie.) Guy has a sense of humor to match his game. Well played.
Probably has no chance of making the roster since he has never been called up before but I hope he is at least being considered.

Going to be interesting to see which of these players make the Final roster of 26.

Sini and Poveda and call it a day. Carrascal and Asprilla can also play wide and are great at 1 v 1 with small spaces, maybe not natural attacking wingers but that's a bit of how JArias is used at times who can play wide and still attack inside.

Centre, I've watched his games and is a solid player but he reminds me a lot of that Cuadrado start and stop on the dribble so he can try to beat his 1 man, meanwhile it just slows down a lot of the attack. I also think being thrown in CA having never played for the NT is probably a bit daunting. I woudn't be terribly opposed but only if Sini and Poveda aren't available.

    All others, nah.
