Room was also a mysterious long-term absence, well beyond a point where injury was even pretended to be a reason for him not even making the bench. As I recall, he was called up for national team duty - and played - during that period. Nancy has said that Cucho has a back issue. It shows up that way in the (unofficial) league injury report. A player having a nagging injury isn't exactly without precedent. Nancy tends to imply that players will be back a week or two before they actually appear (it happened with Farsi and Camacho, too). The only reason why there's some hand-wringing about this is because of the game on June 1. If that wasn't looming, I suspect the responses would be more along the lines of: "don't rush him back," "give him time to fully heal so that we don't risk longer-term injury" and so on. The reports say he's not training. But I certainly hope he's doing non-running fitness training and taking part in the high-altitude prep work the rest of the team is engaged with. I'm sure he'd kill to play, and play well, on June 1 and is doing everything he can to ensure that's what happens.
Yeah. And I don't think he was bad, necessarily. He just was on an $800K salary, took up an int'l roster space, and we had Schulte, a Gen Adidas player (i.e., zero roster hit) that Nancy saw as a viable replacement as continued to develop. And he was right. Speaking of keepers, I'll be very curious to learn when Bush might be returning, and if that could happen by the time Schulte presumably leaves for the Olympics. Bush was hurt in mid-April, and Nancy said he'd be out "months." Mid-July would be three months. Hagen seems fine, but I'd prefer to have a Bush/Hagen option as opposed to Hagen/Lapkes.
Neil Mcguinnes said that Room’s family had trouble getting visas and that was a big part of him leaving the team.
I saw a list of the 99 locations Red Lobster is closing but none in Ohio. So if you can't find your server, she's taking a smoke break out back and comparing notes with the Applebees waitress.
The dumb part isn't that he might not play the Final. The dumb part is it all some made up injury that means he is on his way out like Room.
If ESPN has this right, no Cucho on Colombia preliminary Copa squad. Though it is only 26 and I doubt they take 4 keepers. https://www.espn.co.uk/football/team/squad/_/id/208/league/CONMEBOL.AMERICA/season/2024
ITS FCUKING TIME BOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ALSO ITS MY BIRTHDAY IM 34 HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHA PLEASE END ME NOW IM SO OLD
OK, am I the only one who thinks that there's a real issue with tossing Cucho out there after not playing for a month and expecting him to be game sharp and game fit?
I mean i second that possibility but great players show up in big games. Wonder if he is practicing when the fans and media aren’t around. It could affect his fitness if he has literally been unable to run or do anything on the side. But the whole thing seems weird but as long as we win who cares.
No. But I will take a slightly rusty Cucho over JRR, Ramirez, or Hinestroza. The bigger issue, for me, is if he is physically subpar due to the back injury. But he has a week to train this week. Let's see how that goes.
-----------------Schulte------------- --Moreira--Camacho--Cheberko-- Farsi---Nagbe---Morris---Yeboah ----Rossi---Cucho---Matan--- Bench: Hagen; Amundsen, Zawadzki; Jones; Arfsten, Sands; Hinestroza, Habroune; JRR, Ramirez. LFG!!!!!!!!
This is a 23 man squad so either Bush or Cole Johnson will join along with Mrowka. Lapkes has not traveled outside the States for Crew 1 or 2. Wonder if that's a visa/immigration issue.
Thanks. I tried to do a 20 man and miscounted. Habroune & Mrowka clearly 21 & 22. If they mandate 3 keepers I guess I would take Bush, even though he cannot play with his injury. Just as a reward for service.
They should be pretty heavily favored. However, in their last 10 at home...DWD(pk loss)DLLLWWW. Most recent first. They did have that brutal schedule stretch in there. But 4 W, 3 D, 3 L isn't impregnable.
Also remember this Pachuca never lost a Concaf match at home! The stat just means it’s an opportunity to prove we are the worlds greatest team.
