It’s a good call, Santos plays a good dead ball also. Throwing him on as an extra attacker is a better option than Dajome or Fletcher (unfortunately).

Agree this move helps in two ways. Plugging a hole and allowing Santos to play fewer and hopefully more effective mins. Also agree CM is next big need, also agree replacing Dajome is other biggest need. If they can pull off moves 2 and 3 in the summer window I'll be extremely impressed. If they pull off o e of them I'll be impressed.

Dajome isn't going anywhere this year. He is Lesesne's "swiss army knife" right now and he's out of contract at the end of the year. The more likely candidate for an exit is Rodriguez who has expressed a desire to go back to Colo Colo. If Mackay can make that move in the summer, it frees up the prorated amount of Rodriguez's $1.1M salary and opens another international slot. I also don't think Rodriguez will go before the end of the season. What is more likely would be 2 U-22 pickups -- the problem there is the lack of international slots at DCU. A U-22 also isn't the type of reinforcement that generally provides immediate impactful reinforcement.

There's always a chance they make Ku-Dipietro a U-22 player on his next contract for salary cap purposes, assuming they sign him to an extension this season.

Swiss army knife implies that for his salary he does a lot of different jobs (well) for us. Is he doing that for a million? But yea, he will likely be here until the end of the year because no one wants him. He hasn't produced any results to warrant a similar salary or opportunity elsewhere and if I were him I wouldn't go sit on a bench somewhere.

Good point. It’s hard to imagine how DC could move Dajome and it help the club. What can they get for him in return?

The new defender to me shows that the brain trust is working methodically, not radically, in revamping the roster. Dajome is being demoted out of the starting lineup, but it’s better to keep him around than to just cut him loose. He’s not a useless player. He seems to have a good attitude.

If you (reasonably) assume 1) we are not going to win anything this year trophywise and 2) Dajome should not be part of our long term plans, then we should be looking to move him this summer for anything we can get. We will have to absorb a huge chunk of his salary for the rest of the year and hope some team wants him as a back up to their back up for the stretch run, but we should take whatever asset (presumably GAM) we can get for him before he simply leaves on a "free" when we don't resign him

While all of that is true, no one is taking Dajome at his salary within MLS. When Vancouver unloaded him, they ate part of his salary in 2023 for exactly that reason. The also knew that Dumpster Diving Dave was a chump and would overpay for anybody, so they gave him the sweetener for one year and left DCU holding a $900K bag this year. As @superdave noted, Dajome seems to have good attitude and he is versatile. He's the swiss army knife in the Durkin model -- not really good at anything but mediocre in many things. You need those types on your roster, you just shouldn't be paying them $900K.

Goff reporting McVey out 6-8 weeks with a strained MCL. Peltola to the backline.

As much as Mackay and Lesesne should get kudos for a great deal of their work this year -- Mackay gets an "F" on roster fulfillment. This was a short roster before McVey's injury. Right now, the only defender on the roster not starting is Tubbs (Santos is not a LB despite his being put there from time to time). There now is no DM depth behind Hopkins with Peltola on the back line. That really is inexcusable from Mackay because the team know about Canouse's physical status before the close of the transfer window. Right now, the only options to fill the roster before the July window opens is to recall Garay and one of Akinmboni or Sargis from loan.

As if that will be our only remaining injury with our luck. Roster lacks talent and is thin, we knew this big time.

To the extent that DC are doing better than we expected, it is •in spite• of the roster.

Remember, if you are young and fit, bring a full kit to every home match, because you never know when they might need a sub...

Do you think Klich and Stroud and Herrera could find him? We don't have Etch anymore so I'm not sure OTC would be all that valuable... :(

At this point it would be unfair to judge Lesesne with this roster.

I was joking the other day that come August when this roster is completely gassed, there would be a new STH benefit called "See You Child In The Starting Lineup".

I am fairly certain that this is a function of the club mortgaging everything to put players on the field for Rooney which included squandering the money from both Arriola and Paredes which is emblematic the incompetence running this club which is why I am done with season tix.

Speaking of healthy individuals, I know Owen Goal gets a bunch of stick around here but I‘ve never seen him on an injured list.
