There’s a lot of posts here about the refs. On this play, I thought the replay showed it hit his shoulder.

Except for falling for a couple of Suarez’ dives (and far better refs than ours have fallen for those over his career) I thought they were fine.

Pirani was right in line with the other 3 mids. I wonder if he was following instructions or not. We can’t really know.
Isn’t Pirani in the same classification?

how many matches have they won in stoppage time already? There are more stoppage time goals in this league than any other, but Miami seems to get a large share these days

Compare Messi's trap with Stroud's; Stroud's was whistled, Messi's wasn't. The ref was poorly positioned for Stroud's but didn't hesitate to make that call, even though the replay had Stroud's arm in a more natural position and was definitely trapped by the torso, but it takes a replay to say "well maybe the ball hit Messi's shoulder." Nearly every contact against Benteke was called against him. Stroud was whistled for a foul in the second half in which he had position and first contact on the ball, but the call goes Miami's way. A shoulder-to-back challenge against TKDP who had possession was given a play-on, but a shoulder-to-shoulder challenge on a 50/50 2 minutes later was whistled against Benteke.

I don't think the deal is "the refs were fine," I think the deal is "we're so used to them being consistently so bad that their level of badness is just expected."

Pirani is not a young DP. Peltola has that spot. Pirani is a U22 initiative player. They are different.

I was really proud of the effort. DCU played a near-perfect game for 93 minutes. Their bench is just terrible.

You clearly weren't following Leverkusen this season.

It's telling how "slammed" he's been, as this is the first time it's been mentioned in here - home of, arguably, the most critical of DCU fans :)

I’m sure Santos” jersey is currently hanging above Messi’s trophy case.

These are professional players and I would expect them to be friendly with each other after the match. Fight hard for the 90 and leave it on the pitch. Were it a playoff series, then maybe wait until it is over. Just like the handshake lines after a Hockey series.

I'm shocked the Daily Mail didn't black out their eyes and refer to them as Pedro S. and Lionel M. Like they do much of their subjects...

Not sure why he’s getting dragged like this. EVERY game is like this, giving someone a jersey off his back and often?usually not taking one in return. And someone prolly asked for and got his first half jersey too, but no social media so no hate. Everyone really needs to stop being so angry about everything.

I suspect no one is really making a fuss about this and the Daily Mail is just making shit up
