Hard to not see Spain dominating the women’s game is the coming seasons.

They’ve been dominating for quite a while, but agree doesn’t show much sign of fading.

More coaches. More technical and football IQ coaching at a younger age.

I reckon there’s something in their style of play though. They play a style which hogs possession for a very very long time, create numerous chances and at some point they will go in.

there’s nothing like that kind of depth of coaching for girls in England. We’ve only just got there with the boys.

It also seems to be a style they can replicate so well.

Wonder if there's something in the style that will make it more dominant in the women's game than the men's. Women are slower and less athletic than men and less able to close down spaces quickly perhaps, just an idea.

I have always thought it is the small amount of top class dribblers, attacking 1v1 duel winners and CF’s that can hold the ball up and link play. They are massively lacking in the women’s game. Makes trying to be direct against them very challenging. Very good example was that WC final.

Guess that means Le Tissier is now promoted to the main squad.

Aside from being current World Champions, they should have eliminated England at Euro 2022 but I reckon home advantage allowed us to scrape victory in extra time. Actually Spain don't have a good record at the European Championship but seems inevitable they will lift that trophy soon.

Should be a great experience; Roebuck, Niamh Charles, Wubben-Moy, Russo, Stanway & Toone attended 2016. Be great if 2024 produces similar level of talent to the senior side!

In future looks like UEFA will enter five teams rather than three at an expanded U17 female world cup so might qualify more consistently.

Two defenders (Wellesley-Smith & Nelly Las) were included in team of the tournament by UEFA observer panel. Winger Lola Brown was the other selection from England. France had one picked. Polish duo was their goalkeeper and standout player Araśniewicz who Barcelona are tracking.

Not unreasonably Champions Spain had half their team chosen. Assume they are expected to retain U17 World title later this year although I haven't seen USA compete.

I wonder if this will cost her a squad place. There are rumours Jess Carter is going to the USA as well this summer as well.

Niamh Charles has pulled out so Maya Le Tissier is now in the full squad. Kaya Rendell has also pulled out so Lucy Thomas has been called up as standby goalkeeper.

Are there rules about playing in the US that prevent squad selections for England? I thought Rachael Daly got selected while playing in the US plus others too.
