The list (for June friendlies and Copa America): GK: Alisson, Bento, Ederson RB: Danilo, Yan Couto CD: Beraldo, Eder Militao, Gabriel, Marquinhos LB: Arana, Wendel MID: Andreas Pereira, Bruno Guimaraes, Douglas Luiz, Joao Gomes, Lucas Paqueta FWD: Endrick, Evanilson, Gabriel Martinelli, Raphinha, Rodrygo, Savinho, Vini Jr. 23 names called up only, not 26. 3 who play in Brazil (Bento, Arana, Endrick). No Casemiro probably the biggest surprise in a way. But it's a good surprise in that he is not playing great right now. Only 5 mids isn't ideal. They did note the call-up can change up to June 12, since this is for both CA and friendlies, but the CA deadline is June 12. They didn't mention the possibility of 26 players, but of course if CONMEBOL were to change the squad size they would simply add 3 more.
Notes about the list: Surprised not to see Bremer there, especially after they went to Italy for observations this time. I think Marquinhos and Beraldo are fine, but underwhelming. Would be ok seeing Marquinhos phased out like Casemiro and a different player for the fourth CD spot to test options. Also a little surprised not to see Carlos Augusto there, but the problem is all options on the left are just OK. Arana, Wendel are called up and that's fine. Caio Henrique and Carlos Augusto would be fine too but it's 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. The only stand out on the left is Samuel Lino, who doesn't really fit the back 4, but I would like to see Dorival call him eventually and see if it fits. Richarlison was on the list but removed due to injury according to the press conference. Evanilson is the direct replacement. I could see Richarlison being added if the list is expanded or if Evanilson doesn't impress and Richarlison is fully fit by June 12. I saw most, but not all of the press conference. Don't think the potential expansion to 26 was brought up. Reportedly CONMEBOL will expand the squad size, but nothing official has been announced.

GE article: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...al-junior-para-copa-america-e-amistosos.ghtml UOL article: https://www.uol.com.br/esporte/fute...assistir-a-convocacao-para-a-copa-america.htm GE points out that CONMEBOL may yet expand the squad list to 26.
I don't hate the squad. I've given up hoping for Bremer and Carlos Augusto who imo deserve to be in the squad and start. No one else that's glaringly missing. Apparently Richarlison told the CBF he was injured this morning hence the non-callup.
According to GE, Brazil will officially request the expansion of squad size to 26 at the next FIFA congress (which starts this Monday): https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...a-26-convocados-na-copa-america-entenda.ghtml So, this could be made official as early as next week. It remains to be seen if they will add 3 players as soon as it is announced, to participate in the friendlies as well, or if they will wait until June 12, the deadline for Copa America squads.
Why so early? You would think they would wait until the rumors of squad sizes being expanded to 26 was decided on.
According to the coverage on TNT, they were expecting the call up next week. That would be the typical early call up (for the friendlies). They didn't give a reason for moving it to this past Friday, but the TNT team covering it speculated it had to do with the floods in RS. They had prepared messages from players encouraging people to donate, and there was also the issue of pressure on CBF to pause the league. At any rate, looks like the expansion to 26 players, if confirmed, will be official only on May 17 at the earliest. And of course the Copa America call up isn't final until June 12, so basically a whole month to change names if they want to for any reason (and for injury they have until June 23).
Thinking more about the Casemiro omission and I'm a little sad. Low way for a legend's NT career to end if this is it. He has been getting destroyed by the British press. I don't really watch Utd games but it looks like he has dropped form drastically.
It's official, rosters increased to 26 players: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/futebo...em-ate-26-jogadores-para-a-copa-america.ghtml Also, the deadline is now June 15, not June 12. This means teams can wait until after their June 12 friendlies to name their final Copa America rosters. In Brazil's case this won't make much of a difference since they aren't taking additional players for the friendlies, but for teams that have announce larger rosters, it makes sense to let them make the final decisions after the last friendly.
https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...jogadores-para-copa-america-e-amistosos.ghtml The 3 additional p[layers have been named and one injury replacement already: Ederson is out due to a fracture of his ocular socket and Sao Paulo GK Rafael is in to replace him. Which means we will not have two Edersons on the team as Ederson (Atalanta midfielder), Pepê (Porto) and Bremer are the 3 added players. It's midfielder Ederson's first call-up. I like the 3 additional names. Two midfielders who are versatile and deserve the call-up. I could have also seen Joelinton there, though he only just came back from injury. I like seeing Bremer on the team, I just wish he had been one of the first 4 defenders and the additional slot had been used for another full-back or mid. Speaking of injury returns, Caio Henrique came in as a late sub the last two weeks, playing less than 10 minutes, but at least he's back. Today he got his first start since his return from the ACL injury and played the full 90 minutes. He also had one assist and a solid match rating. Reminder that the deadline for Copa America squad lists is June 15 and with friendlies on June 8 and 12 Dorival Jr. has said they could change the list if they want to.
Not gonna lie, Dorival surprised me with his choices. I don't like the Rafael GK callup but I remember that Dorval managed him in SP. Just have to hope Bento and Alisson don't get injured. Militao played a game today and looked way out of sorts and Gabriel Magalhães got injured.
He seemed ok in cameos but he had a terror yesterday. I wouldn't say he isn't good enough to to be on the team but I'm nervous about him starting games. If Gabriel M is also injured, that means our 2 healthy CBs are the PSG guys and that combo starting CA scares me.
Amazing Ederson in the Europa League Final. Second highest rated Atalanta player. Only the guy who scored 3 goals rated higher.
Reminder that the team meets next week, May 30. Players still involved in matches (in Brazil, CL and I think, one postponed match in Italy for Ederson's Atalanta), will join he team on Monday, June 3, when the international break officially begins. No word on how they will handle the Paqueta situation: https://www.uol.com.br/esporte/fute...e-paqueta-dorival-diz-como-quer-a-selecao.htm
Looks like Gabriel Magalhaes will be available to the national team: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...ecao-tem-dano-minimo-antes-de-data-fifa.ghtml The 3 Real Madrid players (Militao, Rodrygo, Vini) will only join the team on June 5: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...lecao-ficara-completa-a-partir-do-dia-5.ghtml The article also mentions that players in Brazil (Bento, Rafael, Endrick, Arana) will join on Monday, June 3. They forgot to mention Ederson, however. Atalanta has a match on June 2 due to a late postponement. Not sure if he will play, but I would expect he'd only be able to join the team after that. The other 18 players will start joining the coaching staff tomorrow in Orlando. They will leave for Texas on June 6 for the June 8 friendly vs. Mexico. Then they return to Orlando for the US friendly on June 12. After that they get a 3-day vacation and resume training for a few days in Orlando before moving on to Los Angeles for the first match of Copa America.
18 payers are in Orlando: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...s-estados-unidos-e-zagueiro-e-desfalque.ghtml 17 were in light training today. Gabriel Magalhaes is recovering from injury, as I noted. Ederson will join on Monday, with the players from Brazil. Finally the reporters realized he has a match Sunday and has to be listed separately!
A press conference was held today with Lucas Paqueta: Not sure if there will be regular press conferences every day already, considering how many days they will have together, or if this was just a special press conference. Haven't watched it, but I'm sure he couldn't say much about the accusation. The brief parts I did see near the end were about Vini Jr. and whether Guardiola had ever talked to him during the Man City interest. Added the article for those who prefer to read the summary: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...gradece-por-ter-sido-mantido-na-selecao.ghtml
Dorival put together about 4 different line-ups during today's training: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...ra-vez-em-preparacao-da-selecao-nos-eua.ghtml https://www.uol.com.br/esporte/fute...al-comeca-a-esbocar-selecao-com-novidades.htm The first one is getting the attention with the assumption it might reveal his starting midfield. Still too early to tell if these mean much with 5 more players joining by Monday and the Real players joining on Wednesday. But if you're curious that first line-up was: Danilo, Marquinhos, Bremer, Wendell; Joao Gomes, Douglas Luiz, Paqueta; Savio, Martinelli, Evanilson The others are also listed in the articles.
The team has the day off tomorrow, and the players from Brazil and Ederson are expected to join the team in Orlando. https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...estados-unidos-e-da-folga-aos-jogadores.ghtml
