If that is as bad as its ever got, I think it’s fair to say there was no controversy.

I loved reading all these messages. I wouldn’t know what to say so thank you everyone for sharing all of your feelings about it.

It shows how much respect you can get when you leave at the right time. Continuing to play in poor leagues just for the money only diminishes a players legacy.

The bond in the team these past few years is amazing. It’s the kind of chemistry most clubs could only dream of. I don’t take it for granted.

Also looks like Toni is hinting at giving the number 8 to Valverde.

I was traveling the last week or so, just saw this.
I had my share of complaints about Toni, but overall - what a legend - and do go out in style without degrading yourself to some crap oil money league - priceless!

I am hoping kroos has such a good euro that he changes his mind. If he ends up being one of the players in the tourney and then retires, that would be quite crazy.

2025 CL final is in Munich.
And then there is the Club World Cup right after.

I’m curious why you keep bringing up the Club World Cup? I don’t think any player makes a decision based on winning the CWC. What am I missing?
Kroos is retiring, gotta accept it.

    I get it.

I hope he somehow makes a turn around and moves to do a reduced role next season

Yes, for example, when Modric missed his penalty a few weeks back, he immediately focused on getting the team ready to score the next one. There's a real sense of purpose, responsibility, and mutual respect in the squad.

In the summer of 2025, the club world cup will not be the Mickey mouse cup that is played every year. Many top European sides will be there and the money is massive. I don’t know what the future would be for this competition but if it becomes the real world cup of cups, you would want it to be there in the cv of a legend like Kroos, especially if it’s just 1 year away!

Teams get 50 million euros just for showing up and the prize money goes up from there.

12 of the 32 teams will be from Europe and they are not going to half ass it.

I see no reason why this tourney as structured will not turn into some CL/World Cup Level attraction.

As a player near the end of my career, I would not want to miss the first one.

Yeah, I don’t think so fellas. Kroos probably couldn’t give 2 shits about that and has made his decision. Seems like the kinda guy who sticks to his guns.

I wish he would join the coaching team. The calmness, charisma, football knowledge and the fact that he was the main man behind the way such a successful team played for multiple seasons; all point to him being a great coach in the future. Would love to have his presence in the club.

Kroos actually has the demeanor to be a future Club President. Stone cold and level headed, and the ability to see the bigger picture without being easily swayed by other people. These are Florentino traits.

He runs a podcast while playing, and is able to do it without creating controversies. For most players, running a podcast would be a ticking timebomb for controversy.

He also has his own academy to teach youth. I can see him trying his hand at coaching, but he's the kind who wouldn't pull a Lampard or Gerrard. As in he wouldn't start off coaching a big team to be out of his depth. He'll work like Alonso, work his way up slowly. But that's his choice. He may not wanna deal with the headache.

Personally, I would love to see him be a TV analyst. His match analysis would be incredible. Plus he speaks very good English. If I were CBS Sports I would pay him whatever my budget allows to see if he would take a job for CL show (with Henry, Gallagher, Richards and Abdo). The guy could be the most decorated CL player [with the most CL trophies] in the modern era soon.

I really like the idea of him as TV analyst. He is multi lingual and fresh from playing, a lot of top athletes are making huge money here in the US by going into the booth right after retirement. He would be a good analyst i feel, at least much better than some on TV currently. His biggest disadvantage though, he doesn't have a thick Scottish/English/Scouse/Irish accent which seems to be a pre-requisite. Lol

I heard his German podcast is quite popular. He can do TV in English, Spanish or German. Maybe for Spanish TV as I read him and family will continue to live in Madrid.

He's very well spoken. Could be the Valdano of this generation as TV analyst. Could work in RM academy like Arbeloa, Guti, Raul and Solari if he's interested in coaching after a break.

When the whistles blows on Toni Kroos' final day as a Real Madrid player on June 1st, can we change the thread title to "Kroos'ed to la decimoquinto" before locking it?
