Caleb Porter is probably still hurting from the friendly where Pep Guardiola refused to shake his hand after the game. I listened to some podcast where a former POR player said that Caleb was crushed because he worshipped Pep.
if that many players are having friction with Caleb Porter, then i assume the cure is just 1-2 weeks away
Portland Timbers boss Phil Neville, New England Revolution's Caleb Porter and the MLS managers who are on the hot seat | Goal.com How do you mention Laurent Courtois but not Luchi Gonzalez?? The Quakes are dead last in the western conference and just got eliminated from the Open Cup by a lower division team for the third straight season (the last two under Luchi)... how many wins do they have since last summer, like five?
Haha the answer to that is pretty obvious — A coach can’t fail expectations if the owner doesn’t have any in the first place.
Just fire him already and Shawlee and Leitch too. As long as that trio of incompetents are running the show it'll never get better.
How do we know Shawlee is incompetent? Has he actually done anything other than collect a salary (in the grand tradition of Quakes Presidents)?
He's the one pulling all the strings, he says Yea or Nay to everything that goes on with our Quakes. Fisher dumped everything in his lap, including all the cash he needs, but he's far too fiscally conservative to pull the trigger on anything. Make no mistake, Shawlee is the architect of most of our failures.
Okay, I will play along; how about some evidence you consider relevant and material to support your position that Shawlee is the architect of the team’s on-field failures.
Well i have a full conversation via screenshots from Shawlee himself and an aquaintence discussing the nature of the club, and his vision and idea about the clubs building process. However youd need to call her to the stand, shes not on this forum, shes on linkedin, shes very critical of the Quakes from a business perspective, and shes Ian Russells ex . But solely based on Shawlees words not his fault completly. But its on Leitch, and mosr of the blood is on Luchi. I personally think Shalwee needs to fire letich and luchi. If not Fisher needs to fire all 3.
Is Shawlee responsible for the club’s culture? It seems to me that Quakes culture is to sell tickets. We’re not about winning, we’re about making the playoffs in order to sell enough tickets. Last year, wasn’t the only front office guy who lost his job —> the guy in charge of ticket sales? So they’ve added the Levi’s games and promoted them as very special events (LAFC cinco de mayo, Leagues Cup). Even the last home game with Beer Fest, they promoted the Beer above the game. This club is not about winning. The fact that so many of us keep buying tickets or following the Quakes shows that we’re not about winning either.
If anything the business side of the club is the one area that’s actually exceeding expectations. Last year I think we had the highest increase in attendance in the league? Yes it was pumped up by the Levi’s game but that’s been a success 2 years running, takes a lot of work, and is a good driver for new fans and season tickets. This year they’re managing to somehow keep fans coming to the games despite all the losing. No mean feat.
I'm curious about this too. Shawlee has been team president since 2022. Quakes have been poor since 2008. Was Shawlee primarily responsible for all the Quakes failure before 2022 as well, or just since then? And according to @Beerking, Fisher has given him "all the cash he needs" but Shawlee is "far too fiscally conservative to pull the trigger on anything." How do we know Fisher has given him all the cash he needs? And how do we know that he's the guy who's sitting there saying "no!" to spending the money it takes to build a competitive team? And why would he do that? Why in the world (if Fisher was willing to pay what it takes to finally build a competitive team in San Jose, after all these years) would Jared Shawlee be the one who's standing in the way of progress? And if Shawlee is in charge of building our roster, what is Leitch's role? Normally GM's are primarily tasked with bringing in the players. These are big claims and they're inconsistent with what the past 16 years have taught us. Without evidence to back this up, it just sounds like an attempt to shift the blame away from Fisher, for some reason.
