Its just the way it goes in this industry.

Average top-flight manager tenure across Europe less than 16 months, says Uefa - BBC Sport

Wagner survived at Norwich for a year and a half, so he made the average.

Its worth noting that he wasn't on a long-term contract anyway. He had a "twelve month rolling contract" according to the BBC.

These coaches know what they're getting themselves into. In the Championship, very few front offices are happy. The bottom half is unhappy. The middle is unhappy that they weren't at the top. Then the majority of the top half is unhappy that they werne't the ones promoted. Three front offices are happy. What usually happens is the promoted front offices are unhappy 6 months into the subsequent season, so those promoted coaches are fired then too. [At least this year the coaches in Luton and Burnley seem to have survived.]

As a Liverpool fan, as good as Klopp is, if they don’t sign Salah and VVD his ass was going to get fired within a couple years because he would get blamed for the inevitable failure to make the CL.

The TD/GM is the one who makes the decision and when the team sucks it’s obviously not their fault, they probably can’t fix it with new players, so a new manager is the clear answer.

The back office doesn't get nearly enough credit in the case of Liverpool.

Lund(LWB in 352) got an assist in Palermo's 2-0 win in the Promotion Playoffs.

    1 assist
    3 clearances
    9 recoveries
    0/0 fouls/fouled

Klopp in fact wanted some players who would have been much worse than who they actually ended up signing.

The best teams are all about the right structure and having people who make good decisions on who to bring in. There’s no one man show like Sir Alex these days.

Barcelona also has the issue that the leadership has to be elected so they are incentivized to make over the top promises. Madrid got around this because Perez found a way to entrench his power so he could never be unseated and they got away from the pure galactico model and have been quite smart in their buys (and were helped by the fact that Bellingham and Mbappe specifically preferred to go there over other options).

I saw. Absolutely stunning. How dumb do they have to be? I feel he will be a popular name after the next firing squad goes down.

And there's no home/away in Serie B playoff first round (that doesnt come til the second round). That was a one off and Palermo advance to play Venezia. Damn.......the matchup I did not want to see honestly.....I will certainly be nervous for that series. That one WILL be a home and away series May 20th and 24th.

Is it really "stunning"??? Been in charge of one of the better resourced Championship clubs since January of 2023 and they're still in the Championship. They actually got worse last season after he was hired and barely grabbed the last playoff spot this season. Also, Norwich hired a new sporting director last November and he likely wants to go in a different direction and get a manager whose vision/style coincides with his own into the job.
I'm sure he'll coach again, but his managerial career has been pretty unimpressive since keeping a pretty terrible Huddersfield Town side in the PL in 2017-18.

Xavi already announced he was leaving Barca at the end of the season back in January. Barca are trying to convince him to stay now.

No they had already convinced him to stay and it was all agreed to. And then he made some comments this week and looks like he’s being let go as a result.

    See for instance https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/55...-barcelona-future/?source=user_shared_article

Norwich aren’t that good and Wagner could not elevate them above their station. Change the window dressing, sell Sargent, reinvest and hope they hit on a couple of guys and a new staff. Then the TD can be the hero.

The meds will only help to get them out of the hole. Weekly CBT sessions will sort them out.

We’ve seen this in the US with former Michigan State football coach Mel Tucker.

In theory a different manager other than Xavi might give Dest another opportunity.

The thing about Barcelona is the financial situation means they are pretty limited in terms of bringing in new players. So if they have a need at right back for instance, it’s fairly complicated for them to go buy someone new. It’s basically who they have already or bringing someone up from the academy.

And they have some deals they’ve made as of late where they never received the money and probably won’t which is going to put them in an even deeper financial hole.

Aaronson(false nein in 343) gets the assist to help Union avoid the relegation playoffs.

When he has started at false 9 or under 2 strikers, the numbers have been good, including in a match against Arsenal.

Maloney(DM in 4231) and Heidenheim finish in 8th to have.

Koln's relegation is probably a good thang for Damion Downs. He'll play more and develop faster in Buli 2.

he’s that absolutely saved Union Berlin from relegation playoffs. Extremely fortunate given their trajectory. Curious if they purchase him or not
