So, my Dad had stories about going to see the Senators at RFK. He knew a guy from work that was a parking attendant on weekends and my mom would fry up a bucket of chicken, and they'd grab a case of beer on the way. My old man would drive up and park his 67 VW Beetle or whatever in the front row with the REAL Senators parking - the elected kind. Parked his bug next to all the Cadillacs and Lincolns in Congress row. Left the keys with his coworker, and the parking attendants would finish off the beer and chicken during the game - with the AM radio on.

Same Dad took me to a few Dips games in the late 70s, since my brother was playing rec league soccer in Carroll County.

I went to all the DC United games since '95, which conveniently was when I was supposed to graduate from Maryland. Lots of tailgates and raising the water level of the Anacostia via recycled beer. I was at a few HFSivals (one time had to leave my car because I lost my keys in a mosh pit) and the grateful dead when a roomate invited me.

I'll miss it, but I'm happy I got to take MY kiddo to some games at RFK, including the last game ever. We were in the 2nd deck again right above Ariola's goal (last time we were up there was the Beckham game and of course the '97 final rainout of glory).

What I'm saying is that RFK has been in my family for three generations, and I'm glad it was.
