This game is why I still don’t believe we’re back, and won’t be until Vanney is gone. Ironically there’s enough raw talent to save Gregg until it’s too late. My hope, Kuntz didn’t let Bradley slide despite having some good seasons, but not bringing it home will see Vanney gone if we don’t win MLS.

Vanney got cute and tried to get some players some rest and it almost cost us points. But rivalry games are weird so I’ll take the points and move on.
On a per game basis we are in 2nd place in MLS and WC. We are tied with VAN on ppg, tied on wins (5, 1st tiebreaker), but behind on goal differential (8 to 6, 2nd tiebreaker). VAN also has a game in hand on us (we’ve played 9, they have played 8). Third is Miami, 1.8 ppg, 5 wins, 7 gd but having played 10 games, one more than us, two more than VAN. We need to get back in first!
Paintsil was on a yellow though for that sh*t call early. That one I can at least understand. Nephew though? Starting Cerillo at RB instead of Cuevas is the real wtf mvp.

How the hell is Brugman rated higher than Puig on Whoscored, and tied on Footmob? Puig was all over the place, scored a goal and was instrumental in the others! What am I missing?

He came with a rep for speed but tonight he finally showed it in action. Not Paintsil speed, but close.
Depends on which stats these sites rate higher than others. From what I can tell Puig should have been based on offensive stats, altho by just a bit, as Gaston had 2 key passes that Puig had 2 dribbles and his goal. however it must be the addition of defensive stats. Brugman had 4 interceptions and 5 clearances while Puig had none of those key defensive stats.
Even with the yellow it seemed too early to pull Paintsil. It was minute 66, so almost a third of the game left to play. Just remind your arguably best player to be careful with the fouls and leave him out there, and reassess at minute 80.
Yeah I was thinking it had to be defensive work, which is legit. Just seemed it would take a LOT of defensive superiority to cancel out Puig’s goal and secondary-ish assists. But 4 interceptions and 5 clearances IS a lot of defensive work. Nevertheless, I still don’t think the ratings gave Puig quite enough credit for how instrumental he was in quarterbacking the team.
Yea, one of those things that "stats" are hard to measure is the "intangibles" part of the game. Either way both Riqui and Gaston are key to our midfield
Paintsil is not a card magnet. Why take your game-changer off the field EVEN if he was a card magnet. I'd rather have him on the field should the match be on the line then save him and tie or lose the match. It's silly.
