Sorry for the delay, didn't want to think past the Blades. But here it goes.....Arsenal have been clicking on all cylinders lately, but their shotty defense still worries me. Bayern Munich is coming off a shocking 3-1 loss to recently promoted Arminia Bielefeld FC!

Bayern Munchen are DEFINATELY beatable, but will Arsenal bring their A game with them. I'm going to be a CL downer and say that the lads are only able to get a 1-1 result.

Remember your Bavarian pretzels and bier, boys and girls!

Any suggestions for my lesson plan? Should I pile on the work, so I can not be so nervous, check text messages, give a quiz, or lots of readings for my Political Science and World Geography afternoon classes?????

I forsee Rickbreese making as much noise as 10,000 Bayern Munich supporters....lol. The opposition always seem to out shout Bayern's support.

Wonder how many Gooners are making the trip to Munich?

I'll go out on a limb and say Jens shuts out the Bayern attack and Phishy's fav Lauren to score along w/ TH for a 0 - 2 away victory.....

....and Phish is returning to the road!!!

I know, but don't Arsenal need to send Europe a message a la The Italian Job this season. Many pundits and prognosticators might be looking past Arsenal or not respecting them concerning their potential in Europe.

Sweet! After listening to tons of Phish cds, per many Gooners suggestions on these boards, I would love to see them live. And for me to want to see any band live is a big deal, I'm always disappointed how weak many rock groups sound live, they play only a few hits, or their concert is quite short.

Thanks for the heads up, GP!

Back to Bayern vs. Arsenal......IF Jens is allowed to even set foot near the Gunners goal, it would be just fantastic to see him show not only AFC, AW, Gooners worldwide, and most importantly all of Germany that he can be a #1 GK.

Kahn vs. Lehmann......the German goalkeepers square off in a cage match, only on Pay Per View!

Agreed. Of course I'd like a win, as Catfish says we do have a point to prove in Europe, but realistically I have to say a draw would be fab right now...

Can't wait for Lehmann vs Kahn but my worry about our defense will probably spoil the fun...

    I'll be trying!!
It will be a good atmousphere and hopefully a great game. I'm looking forward to it. I'm with phishy though that a draw will certainly do for me.

i wouldn't expect too much from arsenal to be honest. you'll probably be let down. a 1-1 draw would be the best we could expect from this match. a low scoring win would be perfect but that doesn't look like happening.

i haven't given up on arsenal in europe but i honestly don't think we'll get past bayern. i would love to be wrong though.

i'm being realistic, even if we do get past bayern. we'll get slaughtered by stronger clubs.

    1. we suck against good teams.
    2. we need to sort our fucking team out(defence)

    i'm not expecting much.

Do you guys really think we will be at bayern with our most probable linout this:

    Lehmann
    Lauren
    Toure
    Cygan
    Clichy
    Ljungberg
    Fabregas
    Vieira
    Pires
    Reyes
    Henry

Come on be serious. Wherever Cygan is involved there will be an OG for sure.

I may well have a spare ticket for this game if anyone is travelling out there without one. "P.M." if interested. Jeff.

Has results, highlight to reveal: While I will be hoping for an Arsenal win, you guys can't be too excited about Bayern's win today - definately a confidence booster. 5-0 over Dortmund with a Makaay hat trick.

With that said, good luck. I'm always looking for an EPL team to win.

You make a good point. Life has changed drastically for the Gunners on the defensive end. Last season, they gave up a handful of goals. So far, this season....leaky faucet time. I know the injury bug has severely bitten the lads, but we have the SAME players. I just don't get it. It has to be driving Arsene Wenger absolutely batty.

dortmund are on the brink of bankruptcy and were 11th before this game. so they score doesn't reflect much but dortmund are absolutely in trouble now.

even though i'm hoping for a draw away. i also hope bayern come into the game underestimating arsenal. that will only help us.

If my recent memory serves me correct, some FC Bayern supporters seem to think that Arsenal are nearly not in the same class as them. I think Bayern is going to be shocked.

I'm predicting that Vieira and Henry are going to be HUGE in these Bayern matches.

but going into the game, dortmund had taken 10 points from four games, while bayern had taken 7 from 4...

dortmund may be in financial trouble but they still had the likes of worns metzelder rosicky koller ricken dede ewerthon etc on the field!!!

    bayerns starting midfield was

    salihamidzic demichelis zeroberto
    ___________scholl

no ballack frings hargreaves schweini or deisler!

and the score was 4-0 at half time...

at the end of the day, it was a superb result for bayern, but a sad day for german football...

btw, catfish, i dont think many of us will go so far as to say arsenal arent in the same class as bayern, but i do think we go into the match as favorites...

But on the plus side, this game won't be played with German referees.

On the away leg I'd certainly be fine with that. I just hope we can come away with 1 or 2 away goals in that process.

Yeah and from the highlights I saw it looked like Dortmund had an entire backline of Cygans. I only saw highlights so maybe they played like defensive gods the rest of the game  but all but one of the goals looked incredibly weak to me. It looked like C.Palace played us much tighter than Dortmund played your boys. Sad day for the soon-to-go-under Dortmund and of little relevance to our game with you. Here's hoping your team underestimate us.

I predict a tight 1-1 or at worst 2-1 for your guys. We'll finish you off back home.

Stating the obvious but....set piece defending will be critical.

    WUDN'T U LYK 2 NO!
The result worries me a bit, but the fact that Ballack didn't play and they still won 5-0 doesn't help. Makaay scares the crap out of me with the defense we have right now.

However, I am looking foward to the Vieira/Ballack match up! Can you say 'TY COBB / SPIKES UP REVISITED'? :D
