You couldn't be more wrong. Milan is Adidas, always has beebn, probably always will. http://www.subside.co.uk/shirt.asp?req=1&id=achss0203&tm=78&division=1
With the hundreds of top level teams in the world eventually you are going to get uniforms that look like each other. You just cannot come up with 900 different styles of uniforms. But if the Metros are going to have a uniform that looks like someone elses, better to have it look like one of the best teams in the world than look like crap.
Actually, if you think about it at all, you'll see that the Metros new logo has only one thing slightly in common with the Barcelona logo: the red vertical stripes in the upper right. The general shape, and every other detail are very different.
They only switched to Adidas recently. Weah, Van Basten, Gullit, and Maldini all had their best years in Lotto.
I'm jealous... Maybe just maybe the galaxy will get a new logo and even a new name and kit to boot. One can dream! IMHo the team that needs a logo redesign and name change the most is the Dallas Burn. Rapids just need a new logo.
Someone mentions their problems with the Galaxy's Teal. Now though I really do not like their present jersey I must say its a great improvement over their original black orange and mustard colors, that was horrendous! Though I'm not sure which was worse those original Galaxy jersey or the original Tampa Bay jersey. I truly believe than Doug Logan and his original plan for MLS did MUCH more harm to MLS than it did help. Though Garber is not perfect he is certainly a positive and definitly has helped the game and the league in general. Had Garber been the original Comish as oposed the idiot Logan the league would've been in better position today. Can some of you remind us of several of the assenine ideas the original MLS administration and Doug Logan brought to MLS starting with the team names , shootout and the timeclocks. The list is rather long and thank goodness Garber has made a significant effort to corrrect those problems though the damage has already been done, unfortunately.
We're still stuck with an awful lot of bad team names. They sound like hip hop groups, not soccer teams. I still maintain that you can put any two MLS team names together and get a potential rap group's name.
You don't see the irony in his statement being that his name is Detroit Express? Sounds like a defunct Broadway show.
Dallas should never have been the Burn anyway, but at this point it's too late. The thing has stuck in and there's no reason to change significantly. The Burn logo is outstanding, but it needs to be on a crest. It can easily be shifted into a shield that is divided by a diagonal stripe. Top left is the Flaming D in red on a black background, which was also an original icon for them. Bottom right put the current horse logo on a red background. No ball needed. Dallas has been known as Big D to a lot of people for many years. Perish the thought that people in Dallas would "get" the meaning of the crest just by looking at it. Though Dallas Diablos makes a lot of sense in both languages, but we're too deep south to call something the Devils and want people to go.
Colorado actually had this logo on one of their uniforms back in 98 I think it was. Why they didn't leave it I don't know. www.bbshop.com.br/soccerlogos then click on CONCACAF then click on the United States flag then click on Colorado Rapids Sorry, for some reason I can't seem to get the exact link typed in properly.
Dam that old Mutiny Kermit the frog green was quite horrendous!! What the hell where they thinking. Come to thing of it nearly all the players looked like a bunch of clown. Interestingly the lone team with a decent name, D.C. United, also was the lone team with the lone nice and decent jersey.
Re: Re: MetroStars Rebranding: Is this the start of a trend in MLS? I noticed Tab Ramos and John Harkes in the photo. Who are the others and where are they now? Anyone of significance?
Re: Re: Re: MetroStars Rebranding: Is this the start of a trend in MLS? Colorado- Roy Wegerle KC- Mike Sorber NE- Mike Burns Columbus, Dallas, Tampa, SJ, LA-???
I think MLS was trying to capitalize on the success that minor league baseball teams were having with their names and logos as there are some very creative ideas in the minors. Also, minor league baseball was at its peak interest with MLB still recovering from the strike.
