Another positive result. I am very pleased to see them give Lazio a good beating.

With Udinese doing so well, why are they thinking of selling off their stars. There are rumors around Jankulovski, Iaquinta and Pizarro. With these guys they could transform themselves into a “big” club. Then, Italy would have a real competitive league, not the 2 or 3 team league that it is now.

Well,I could say that Serie A is actually the 2nd when we talk about competitive leagues(after Brasileirão),with Milan,Juv,Inter,Parma,Lazio,Roma,Udinese,Fiorentina...

But this year we're having something different - Udinese is playing like 97,and I think this year we'll get a CL spot.

At www.udinese.it,there's news talking about selling players. They don't want to sell, but I think Udinese can make good money AND IMPROVE if they trade some "stars".When I saw Jørgensen(and also Jancker) leaving,I made the same idea, but now with Di Michele and Di Natale...

But Jørgensen will come back soon :)

Lets hope the fans in Udine can step up and show up in larger #'s. If they did Udine might not have to sell all its good players.

    Antonio Di Natale
    Vincenzo Iaquinta
    David Di Michele
    Dino Fava

    NOT A BAD BUNCH!
I think they NEED to pull off a UCL spot this year to entrench themselves as BIG MIDDLE team (a team capable of challenging for European places every season but not quite capable of shooting for Lo Scudetto!)

They have a core group of young players that should certainly be kept!
Assuming Jankulovski, Pizarro and Iaquinta leave, use the cash to buy the BEST players on relegated teams on the cheap and take some good loan players Udinese can become a real force without breaking bank!

Glad the team will be kept intact for the rest of this year.

Sampdoria 2 Udinese 0. Watched the game on RAI - it was an even game in the first half, but Samp started to press a little more in the second half and Flachi eventually got the decisive goal for the home side. Second goal was a header off the post, bounced down and in off DeSanctis.

Iaquinta seemed strangely off, fluffing a few decent chances to get Udinese on the board. Not a horrible performance, but Udinese definitely needs to do better than this to continue competing for a CL berth.

Still in 3rd, 4 points clear of Inter and Samp.

The result sure makes the CL race that much tighter. If Udinese won they could of left Samp 10 points back. Lets hope the boys can regroup and get 3 point on Sunday.

Udinese advanced to the Coppa QFs in another amazing game with Lecce today. After falling behind by 4-1 (8-6 on aggregate) with less than 10 minutes remaining, they scored twice to make equalize the aggregate score and win the tie on away goals. The prize - a quarterfinal matchup with Milan.

Udinese's projected lineup for today's game in Parma. The game is being shown in the US (4 pm EST, Gol TV) and Canada (live at 2:30 pm EST, TLN):-

De Sanctis; Bertotto, Sensini, Felipe; Pieri, Pizarro, Muntari, Jankulovski; Di Michele, Iaquinta, Di Natale.

Giampiero Pinzi is out for one week while Brazilian defender Sanchez Emilson Cribari had surgery this week for torn knee ligaments and will miss the rest of the season.

Udinese has had bad luck lately. They played pretty well vs Parma but just could not score. Perhaps today's visit by Chievo will bring a change in fortune:-

De Sanctis; Bertotto, Sensini, Felipe; Jankulovski, Pizarro, Muntari, Pieri; Di Michele, Iaquinta, Di Natale.

I've been amazed at the form of Sensini this year. Sure, he gets burned sometimes, and the defense is not that strong. But to be the anchor of a 3-man defense in Serie A at the age of 38 is quite surprising. Bet Lazio or Parma wish they still had him now. ;)

Welcome to the boards, guys. It's nice to see a smaller club like Udinese doing well this season. I hope you can hang in there and make it to the Champions League.
