Just because its corrupt dosent mean I have to abandon it. Ive said this already. Just like Italy. Everyone knows how corrupt Italian soccer is. I know many countries are like this. I wont give up on them though. I wont just becaome an England or a US fan because my favorite countries are corrupt. I understand if you feel your club is being shafted, but you should still hold allegiance to your NT if you say you support them. What NT do you follow, if not Lithuania?

What happened to Inkaras Kaunas? Why are they no longer playing in the top division.
I remember seeing this club back in the 80s, when they were called ShVSM-Inkaras, playing in the USSR Second League. Wore green and white, IIRC.

    Also, what does Inkaras mean?

inkaras means 'anchor' / it was named after the sports shoes manufacturers inkaras

there's NO fc inkaras now; because of its complete bankruptcy

look at leeds utd or similar cases - only in England or elsewhere people - politics, businessmen, football federations, fans, citizens - don't allow such big clubs to simply close down and disappear

as far as i remember they always played in blue or blue and white stripes

i still have and wear occasionally the real Inkaras captain's no11 blue puma shirt

ps at least Italian fa aren't involved in that, just clubs

what other team do i support? oh, it's Eng-er-land!!, mate

let's just say that i equally love England and Lithuania squads

    3rd - USA

I distinctly remember them wearing green and white. Of course, in the Soviet days very few teams had set or traditional colors. They basically wore whatever was available.
I had seen Spartak Tambov in all blue and Dinamo Brest in red shirts.

it's strange enough, although there wasn't much logic in Soviet era

Inkaras had Inkaras-Grifas (Anchor-Vulture, .. yeah i know) name for a quite long time

green colour was uniquely Zalgiris attribute, and even now it's the only team playing in that colour, only FBK Kaunas has an away all-green kit

speaking of which.. FBK play Lokomotiv Moscow in the semi-finals of Community(yes!) Cup

(sadly!) they've beaten some obscure Moldovian team in quarter finals..

Sheriff won the Commonwealth Cup two years ago. This must be a lean season for them.

The Italian clubs taking part of it is bad enough. My favorite team in the whole world, Napoli, was basically pillaged, raped, and run into the ground. So bad that they had to fold. Luckily the name was bought and they are able to continue. But its a long way from the top.

yeah i know about Napoli.. i didn't mention the case on the example of Inkaras coz although they were in the 'game market' the club lost itself just fo the plain reason of bankruptcy

if there were taken the same (as in Napoli case) measures against FBK, this 'club' should have been dropped to some bottom marginal 'league' and play in the grounds with cows performing as the linesmen

there was this story recently...there were talks that FBK and Zalgiris will arrange some results among themselves..so FBK lost 2-o at home to Z in the cup semi finals, and Z then lost in the championship to Kaunas 2-o also.
the replay of goals from both of the matches showed it was an amateur small town theatre performance...the goalkeepers running with the ball and then..whoops..losing it - bang, goal! - or 'keepers making 'accidental' blunders receiving the ball etc

the reason this corruption is so active is that our tv stations show just maybe 2(yep) matches in the whole season..it's that bad here
so, no coverage, almost no media, no evidence, just internet debates..
just keep it all quiet and nobody will notice

i remember the FA president's comment about this two-match farce..'well, we all know that FBK doesn't care about the cup, so didn't wanna win, and they, like, lost the game..'

That really seems very stereotypical of Eastern Europe.

"so, no coverage, almost no media, no evidence, just internet debates..just keep it all quiet and nobody will notice"

    Jesus, thats messed up.

    I've seen "Vin de Masa" - Kaushanyi in brown and yellow with burgundy stripes;
and "Stolovaya #27" - Muhosransk in purple with chartreuse polka dots and neon pink hoops.
Seriously - illustrating uniform excitement of Soviet Era - I had priviledge to play for my school team - #53 - in Kishinev.
Every year (2 of them) I wanted #14 for Cruyiff - the closest I got was #3 - don't ask.
Uniforms musta been from the 50's , at one time green , now faded celadon - kinda tie-dyish white, with LEATHER numbers stitched on them (half of the number hanging off of me chirt).
After the tournament we returned them to our gaffer (pardon me P.E. teacher), and I guess then they got their once a year washing .
Now I've jerseys coming outta me tukhes, and in my ticker a LOT less nakhes - figure it out?

When I played for Tighina Bendery youth side in the mid-80s, we were handed the jerseys right before the game. It was basically first come first served. I remember scoring a No. 2, which was probably navy blue back when the first generation of cannon fodder put it on, but was a sickly shade of azure by then. Interestingly enough, despite the fact that I was designated as the central mid in that match (we were trying out another keep), I found myself gravitating towards the fullback position no matter what I did.
Never underestimate the importance of uniform.

You know , mit the half of number 3 hanging off me strappy (then ) back, I went (mysteriously) into man-marking school #14's centerforward, until the PE teacher kicked mein tukhes, und yelled at me to forward. The sumbich I stopped marking scored a hattrick then. The number was smarter then the alkie teach - surprise, surprise.

Hi folks, I thought i'd post you an update since i started this thread.

After the big 20 player trial we offered 4 players contracts but only Marius Kizys and Saulius Mikoliunas accepted. During the transfer window we also signed Deividas Cesnauskis from Lokomotiv Moscow.

So far we have only seen Mikoliunas play and I think i speak for most Hearts fans when I say he's been very, very impressive. He has good pace, likes to beat men and shoot at goal. Also very willing to track back when he loses possession. We were losing 0-1 away to Livingston when he made his debut and along with another young striker we signed from Iceland he came off the bench and helped turn the game into a 2-1 win.

We have heard good things about Cesnauskis and are looking forward to seeing him play.

    All the best. :)

I will be in Lithuania, visiting some friends of mine that lived in MN until recently, for 2 weeks in July. I've got reservations for accomodations in Vilnius, Kaunas (1st week), Klaipeda & Neringa (last week). I know nothing of domestic soccer in Lithuania, schedule, teams, etc., but I would love to catch a game or two when I am there...so if any of our newly arrived Lithuanian posters can provide a schedule, info about stadiums, ticket prices, etc., it would be greatly appreciated.

Hearts won 3-0 yesterday and young Mikoliunas scored his first goal. We took a quick free kick and he kept a cool head to round the keeper and score. He's quickly becoming a fans favourite!! We also saw Kizys make a late substitute appearance.

Both Miko and Chesney played tonight in Scottish Cup Replay against Kilmarnock.
Easy 3-1 win for Hearts - Cesnauskis scores on his debut.
    Both players were very impressive.

    c'mon Chesney (i mean Hearts:))!!

the schedules are not available yet, as they are confirmed the last minute before the season..

all i can say that footie is played on Sundays here (last seasons invention..)

no crowds, prices are..i seriously think that you can watch the games for free in some grounds..well something like 2-3 bucks; and you can stand (as there's not much to sit on:))
the fans (ultras..usually 20geezers) are pretty friendly, except for Klaipeda's Atlantas skins who suffer from foreigner-phobia

Kaunas' stadium is near the beautiful oak-park (the pride of Kaunas), Atlantas' is near the Baltic sea and it's usually hard to tell where Vilnius teams (Zalgiris, Vetra, FC Vilnius) play..as now the old 'Maracana' stadium is being utilized..

Many Hearts fans are now supporters of Vetra, since their win over our Edinburgh rivals Hibs in this seasons Inter Toto Cup. A famous defeat for the Leith peasants. :)

    yeah i remember that..
Vetra is my fave side from Vilnius(where i live now)
it's one of three clubs in Lithuania that is not involved in the FA's A-League corruption scheme
    (Vetra, Ekranas and Suduva)

    Hearts 1-2 Rangers

Chesney has a good game nearly scoring two early chances including hitting the post to put hearts one-up, made some good runs & passes also had a nicely stuck shot blocked before goin over the line and Hearts were then denied a Stone-Wall-Penalty, overall Chesney had a brilliant game and im looking forward to seeing more of him

Marius came on as a sub in the second half, mad an impressing with some quality balls & passes, could turn out to be a regular Hearts player along with Miko & Chesney

Miko had a brilliant game running through the Rangers defence & making good chances, one of our best players but bargged the linesman after he gave a penalty in the 93rd minute for absolutly nothing
The referee then gave Miko two red cards so he will be banned form playing a minimun of 6 games :(

Here's a link where you can download the incident & make your own apinion :

Click second one NOT the first link !

Well was it a penalty or not ... thought so, cheating westcoast bigots

Everyone is fumming, even the rangers fans say that it wasn't a penalty ... the rangers manager was embarassed for there luck

Here's a look at what the papers look like here in scotland at the moment :
