I saw part of it, i wasn't really impressed by the US. I think that they should have won by a lot more.

Yeah, but next time you want to make a post about it you need to put "[R]" in the title and not the score. You might get a card for that.

Disagree. T&T forwards are Yorke and John who are not bad forwards. So it is understand they would win some one on one battles. By comparsion, Mexico forwards are more combination guys and the team defense is the strongeth of US defense. In contrast, if Mexico uses same keeper today and give up that many corner kicks, watch the crosses coming for taller US players.

    Two things:

    1) What "part" did you watch? The US dominated the midfield for much of the match, and looked as if they were the team who was more physically fit and on the same page with each other, which is incredible considering . . .

    2) the US players have only been training together for two weeks, the T&T players have been together for over a month, many US players hadn't played a competitive match of any kind for over three months, the US have had to deal with a National Team players' lockout, etc. etc. For all these reasons, conditioning was supposed to be a question mark for the US. If the US can play that well going into this match with those disadvantages, I think that spells danger for other CONCACAF opponents.

Did you watch the Mexico-Costa Rica game? A bunch of small, slow guys who can barely string together 3 passes. With a training camp, the US can pull off a result in Mexico.

I agree with the every 2 min stuff. In fact I started a thread on it.
How many of the US starters would have been in Camp any earlier than they were .
You are not going to suggest that players on the bench in England or Germany are not fitter than players from a US camp. They sit on the bench because they are deemed to be fit by virtue of their traning, they are ready to play at the top level. I think they should be fit enough. i just think its a bogus line that Balboa and JP kept trotting out.

Maybe I take this for granted but most teams only have a day or two to train before these big games. Of course smaller teams are exceptions (T&T for example) and the US does well to take off-season players and get training camps together. But does Mexico (and the US when both Europeans and MLSers are in-season) really expect much training time together?

US had an intelligent game yesterday, they controlled the game, they only hadtroubles in the last 3 minutes. I was expecting a little bit more of T´dad.

I admit before the match against the US, I gave T&T no chance to make it to Germany, but while they weren't that impressive, no disrespect intended, they have as much chance to qualify as Gautemala or Panama. Don't completely sleep on the "soca warriors", they could possible surprise in the hex and manage a fourth place finish.

I believe we should have tied or even win that game vs USA, we had the US to kill in the final 30 mins and didn't take advantage of it, watch the game again before you reply.... forget what some may say, but USA is very beatable and only time will tell... Other than that, I guess the US did their job in T&T, but I hope you guys dont sleep on us, you were lucky...

We had a team together a while now,,,, that I agree with,,,,, but not the same team we field vs USA, get your facts straight before you run up your teeth. Yorke, Edwards, Jones, Stern, Hislop, Andrews, Sancho and Rougier (partly) has not played for us since last September, Yorke and Edwards even longer. Thats 80% of the team.

We lost yes, but dont feel that good because USA didn't look all that great.

Dude, I watched the entire game, and there's no need to review it, it was an ass-whuppin. The US dominated the entire match, except for the last 12-15 minutes, maybe you should watch the tape again, cause you obviously were watching a different match than everyone else. Maybe it would help if you took off your Red & Black tinted glasses before you speak.

No doubt the deserving team won.. however, asswhupping is not an apt description... not in the least... you see... were it not for a 25 yard rocket the game migth have ended 1-1... while the U.S. did dominate midfield your chances on goal were restricted and kudos to Eddie Johnson who score on the only free header surrendered by the T&T defence up until that point. We might not have lit the world on fire with our midfield play, but T&T were resolute in defence and with a bit more luck could have drawn or won this game... think to Fitzpatrick's one on one that he could have easily scored... or think back to the 3-4 headers we had that could have scored in the first half alone...

again... the deserving team won, but please don't make it out like we got mauled... that is just incorrect... you must not watch much football if you think that result is an asswhupping, i've seen many games where a team has dominance in midfield yet loses the match... remember, football is won by goals, not possesion - you scored 2 we scored 1 by my count we had a similar amount of chances, but you finished better and thus deserved to win...

It's a bit of an exaggeration to say ass-whuppin', but not by much. First off, I actually complimented T & T in the post prior to the one you quoted (in a back-handed sort of way, sorry about that). I also went on to say that the soca warriors had a very good chance to make it to Germany. The post you quoted was in response to another T & T poster who, claimed the US was "lucky" to win. But all this doesn't change the fact the US dominated the entire match except for the last 12-15 minutes, and should've/could've won by 3 easily. I don't know what match you were watching if you claim that T & T had as many quality chances as the US, I watch enough soccer to recongize an outclassed opponent when I see it.

The outclassing was a situation of poor man management by St. Clair, he (T&T's manager) created all this hoopla by bringing Yorke back in the team. For no good reason. He played a poor holding midfield combination. Regardless, Keller's good goalkeeping kept John's and Yorke's first half headers out; had Howard started he may have given them up, based on his determination to try and prove he's still a high quality keeper, he may have outthinked himself and let those headers in.

Back to the preparedness topic. MLS is out of season, so they would've been available for camp and January Friendlies. It didn't hurt us vs. T&T but down the line it may, as having out of season players in camp allows them to build a comeraderie for the two matches in March when the European seasons are in the Dogged Phases. Injuries are bound to surface and having well-prepared MLSers would've helped in the T&T game to get them minutes.

T&T lost due to poor squad selection. Plain and Simple. Lewis and EJ's goals were executed well; but it wasn't a truly beautiful US performance, just poor T&T midfield play till the 2nd half, and Yorke was a waste of the Website, newspaper articles printed about his return. Cornell Glen should've started or been an early 2nd half sub.
