It would be for those who think more cruelty and bigotry defines a more perfect union. And there are a hell of a lot of people like that in the United States.
I just finished watching a 10-yr old New Zealand tv series I had surprisingly never heard of before - The Almighty Johnsons (I'm pretty sure the double entendre is intended). It's an absolutely brilliant series based on the premise the Norse gods are real and currently living in exile in NZ. Highly recommended.
I don't think you realize just how many Americans -- especially in the GQP -- think being a mean-spirited arsehole is incredibly charismatic because it's absolutely the best thing to be.
It's what they want to be but can't. You know how you think if you were really rich all the nice things you would do, they dream of the freedom to be a mean spirited asshole and pay no consequences.
DeSantis lacks the charisma to pull it off though. Trump is good at assuring his supporters that he’s going to shit all over the nerds and weirdos on their behalf. DeSantis doesn’t have that skill. And yes, I’m aware that Trump’s contempt for his own base is easy to see. Edit: “assuring” probably not the best way to put it. It’s really about appealing to their worst instincts.
Doesn't he? I mean, he certainly has a lot of accomplishments in that regard that he can point to as examples.
Amazing how all the Ronbois and GOP elites already fumbled this chance to make the case against Trump. A number of the never trumpers are querying how real the supposed desire to move on is. This is what is always said in private but never on the record. Here we have the perfect opportunity yet again, and none of them are taking it.
That’s certainly what he’s banking on. And the performative cruelty will certainly win him some support. His record as a red-state governor is his ticket. But the rabble-rousing in-person/on-camera thing Trump does so well seems beyond him. That’s all I’m saying.
Longwell was commenting on the triangle of doom once again. There is a basic disconnect between the Elite GOPs idea to move on from Trump because he can't win/can't be president and 99% of GOP politicians rallying around the Trump flag telling voters its a great injustice. How shall GOP voters hear the message that they should vote for Ron or one of the others? Sure there is a part of the base which is in the bag for Trump, but it seems strange that Ron and co, who are campaigning against Trump, won't make the argument that has dropped in their laps courtesy of Jack Smith
The math is 50+. If they win against Trump 40-39 with others grabbing the remaining 21 percent and win the nomination, then in the general they are going in with only 61 percent of the GOP behind them. So how do they shift to the middle and make up the difference? However, if Trump wins the party loses. It is suicide pact with a cult.
Christie is. But he was a Trump bootlicker and Donnie will just wave his hand and say "c'mon. He tried to get a job in my administration and I frankly had no room for him...get it?" (wild MAGA laughter)
I know. But the general public no knows what they getting, no more lets see what happens. Plus Biden has shown a complete difference of what normal can be. My real concern is the suppression and purple things but I don't think they have the votes in general

Amazing that not even arch Ronbois David Sacks and Musk can offer any criticism of Trump. How shall voters ever hear the message that Ron needs to be nominated over Trump if his opponents and boosters never make the case? or have they already reconciled themselves to supporting trump again?
I think this shows how the supposed support for Ron from the family policies crowd was just wish casting and a way to rationalise their support of this disgusting man since 2016. They are all so deeply trapped in the lie that they can't even make the most basic case against trump
This is good friend with a psycho gf stage. He is in too deep and no one wants to be the guy to tell him. No one wants to tell the supporters he will kill the while they sleep.
Right i mean how hard is it? Just say "wow seems not good - let justice take it's course - in the meantime party needs a nominee who is not indicted" Instead they all act like trump surrogates spinning the injustice story
The biggest problem for any non-Trump Republican hopeful is that by running anything close to a normal campaign, it involves acknowledging that Trump didn't actually win last time.
