I still would have started lukaku instead of old man dzeko. Inter could have attacked earlier. Lautaro got zero service when the passing lanes were there
Wouldn't say Inter was better by far. They had zero chances until they were losing. Should've gone for it sooner.
Btw grealish is so overrated it’s insane. 100 m for this??? And that Rodri shot after the lucky bounce had to perfectly curve past TWO defenders. City were lucky asf
Lulaku is way more dynamic than Dzeko but the latter can actually finish lol that’s the dilemma they have. If anything dzeko in the second half makes more sense to me
no, inter were objectively better. 13 shots, 5 on target, 43% possession, 83% pass accuracy, 17 fouls (3 yellows), 4 corners check the xg Man City (0.95) 1-0 (2.07) Inter— The xG Philosophy (@xGPhilosophy) June 10, 2023
I wish Lautaro did better on his only chance when he intercepted the ball. He could have easily got it in between ederson legs, old Messi would have even lobbed it
Inter had about 7-8 great chances in second half. Lukaku alone blew 4 of them , Lautaro had a shot which was well saved , then there's a header that hit the post and few other dangerous crosses. City was actually lucky not to conceides at least once as they lost the ball countless time in second half. City definetely the best team this season overall, not saying they dont deserve it but this final shows that Inter could match them with determination as they pressed hard and really closed down the space in number everytime City was attacking. Haaland barely has notable moment other than a yellow card. Meanwhile, Julian has won treble with both Argentina and City. I know he didnt play the final but he's still played in 10 CL games this season and scored against Real in semi.
I feel sad for Lat. Congrats to Julian and being the only player in history to win the Treble and WC in the same season. Also screw pep for not giving him the experience to play in in the final. https://www.ole.com.ar/futbol-internacional/champions/abrazo-lautaro-julian_3_0C2VkQ7IZG.html
Didn't realise Inter Miami are bottom of the table with 15 points from 17 games, this is certainly going to be a new experience for Leo
Lukaku missed an absolute sitter, the sort of chance Stevie Wonder would have scored, if it had gone to extra time then who knows what the outcome would have been. But football is always about what could have been.
The game reminds me of WC 2014 final. The team that has more possession created less dangerous chances but still ended up winning because of one clinical moment. A final is often won by that kind of moment. Like Inter, we're also an underdog at the time, didnt rely on possession or strong midfield , but somehow still could have won the game. 2021 final, Brazil created more, but we won it by being clinical within few chances we had.
Endless supply of money + breaking every rule regarding football finances both domestically & in Europe + appointing best manager in the world = dominance of football.
I can't wait to see La Scaloneta this Thursday. What lineup would you guys want to see vs Australia? I think Scaloni will go something like this Dibu---Molina, Romero, Otamendi, Tagliafico---RDP, Enzo, MacA---Messi, Nico G., Di Maria Then sub in the following: -Medina for Otamendi/Romero -Palacios for RDP -Lo Celso/Thiago for MacA -Simeone for Nico G. -Garnacho for Di Maria
I still think Lautaro/Julian back up should be better than Gio Simeone. I dont trust striker that has less than 100 career goals in his late 20s. Icardi won the league title with Galatasary, he was second top scorer with 22 goals.
Agreed, for me Taty should have been called up ahead of Gio Simeone. I don't see Icardi being called up by Scaloni ever as Icardi doesn't have the striker's profile that I think Scaloni like. Giuliano Simeone has been reported to go to Mallorca. Would be a good move for him to continue his development and one to watch out for.
I've got to ask this question and I hope no one takes offence, but, what the hell was going on with Messi and his double denim when he arrived in Beijing
Anybody know if this match will be aired here in the US? I’ll set the DVR ready. But I hope we thump the Aussies. I did not like how our last match ended. We gave them life and nearly went to ET because of some fluke.
Yeah as much as I dislike oil money part of me is just as annoyed that a lot of people's "solution" to this is financial rules that only favor the old giants that cheated before. How convenient. Salary cap or you're not serious about fairness imo
Some of the Inter supporters are giving Lautaro a lot of crap for his performance in the Final. Are they failing to realize they would not have gotten to the final without his goals and contribution to the team?
