Lukaku in the Champions League finalpic.twitter.com/sJfUmyQq9F— Troll Football (@TrollFootball) June 10, 2023
I want the people to come back on here who wanted us to sign Lukaku on loan to explain a little more. Oh and us sign Martinez? No thanks. Absolutely chocked himself today in a big game. We don’t need those players again.
Inter had chances and looked like a better team in some ways. But in the end City just had enough to grind out a win. Not exactly a glowing showcase of European football that we all witnessed, it was a pretty dreck match. Pep finally won, so we can now hear he’s the GOAT manager of all time…
Lukaku grew up idolizing Drogba but totally opposite in terms of mentality lol. He even choked chances vs Sevilla in Europa League final so this was no shock given added pressure.
Chelsea won 2 CLs as an oil club under Roman. City now won as state oil club 15 years after takeover. Eventually multi billion dollar investment gonna result in a CL win. PSG is the worst run among the oil lot so hopefully their drought continues for way longer.
It took Pep 7 years to be the manager of by far the richest clubs in the world to win the ultimate prize. Of course, it is emotional. Seldom, a big club holds onto a manager for so long.
I think it’s a bit of humour + winning mentality in that sentence. Pep is not retiring anytime soon, other available managers aren’t that tactically astute and it’s also true that if big clubs like Madrid or Bayern take the foot of the gas, City can chase them with unlimited funds at their disposal.
I'd rather not look for inspiration in losers. It was an absolutely terrible game. Real Madrid can't learn a single thing from that performance.
The 3 peat was the single greatest accomplishment in the history of sports and I won’t be convinced otherwise.
I don't find inspiration in moral victories. Inter lost. Real Madrid scored considerably more goals despite playing 1 game less and conceded just 2 goals more than Inter. Inter didn't go in there to play, they mostly made it ugly and tried to capitalize on whatever fell their way. Madrid hasn't won a single trophy from the latest run playing this ugly. Not a single one. If we want to learn, we can look at what worked, not at teams that lost. I'd never look at a loser for inspiration.
