It is extraordinarily difficult to keep up with all the games flying at us. Tonight is the 11th match for the Fire in the past 35 days. Kudos to @Pennsylvania Dave for his daily updates. That helps keep the rest of us on track. The Champions League final is about kick off. Go Inter Milan! Kick those financially-cheating, blue bastards in Manchester and show that the Italian league is better than the EPL (which sucks). The match is in Istanbul (not Constantinople). Thank you, They Might Be Giants. After the incredibly disappointing performance in the US Open Cup on Tuesday, the Fire have to recoup and, perhaps, attempt to salvage something from this pathetic season. It is Pride Night, which is always awesome, but it will be a great day when LGBTQIA+ people have full equal rights, and Pride Nights can just be a "fun" diversion and not a necessary "stand" against the bigotry and hatred that infects our nation and the world. The Fire come into the match barely limping in the league, second to last in the East (does Messi know that he is going to crappier team than the Fire?). Columbus and their "massive" fan base are sitting 6th in the East, on 24 points from 16 games. Columbus are lead by DPs Cucho, Lucas Zelarayán and Darlington Nagbe (no idea why he is a DP). The Fire are, basically, made of lead at the moment. The Fire need to go on a winning streak to have any hope of making the playoffs and that has to begin tonight. Or next week. Or sometime. The Fire are beginning to get a bit healthier, with only Chris Mueller, Carlos Terán out. Prediction: Fire win...or not. What the hell do I know?
Great weather today- I’m sure there will be dozens of fans in attendance! Wondering where Columbus ranks on the list of worst cities? It doesn’t- villages do not count, only cities. How the oversized farm that is Cbus has not one, but two professional teams playing at the highest level of their sport in this country (although I do sometimes forget the Blue Jackets exist) can only be explained by the fact that those teams play in the least popular of the big five leagues. I will never miss an opportunity to make fun of Columbus for its stupidass nickname, the stupidest of stupid from an era that was full of stupid nicknames. At least KC, San Jose, and Dallas had the good sense to change their stupidass names, whereas Columbus tried and their hillbilly fans revolted, leaving them stuck with the dumbest name in the league, a title they deserve. Also worth pointing out their city has a dumbass name, for reasons I won’t even try to get into here. They still play soccer better than us tho ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ And I feel awkward referring to anyone as a dumbest, when I will be spending my own money to attend tonight, hopeful for a Chicago victory, even though nothing that has happened this year would give any sane person reason to believe a victory is possible. At least we’re undefeated at home! Lol.
I can't make the game and since I'm laid up in the hospital I can't even watch it since it isn't on My50, WGN, or TUDN, all of which the hospital gets. Ah well, I'll try to listen on WLS is it?
Sorry to hear you are in the hospital. If you have access to a device that you can get to Apple TV, it will be streamed for free this week. But if your only option is audio, you can listen on 890 WLS-AM & TUDN 1200 AM.
Traffic sucked coming from the north. Just sat down in my seats and it is a very nice night for a game.
I am not adverse to 3-4-2-1, especially when Teran returns. Has anybody heard a timetable? This formation does demand a lot from the wingbacks.
