The nice part is Auston Trusty is an MLS success story. Whether it was a sweetheart deal that got him to Arsenal or not his loan to Birmingham has worked magnificently. Arsenal paid Colorado 2m euros or so and now he's worth about 4x that. He's going to go back in preseason get a better loan in the Championship or maybe abroad and show he's for real with a better club next season.

Eventually he's going to get a 6m-10m euro sale and a nice pay bump to play for some other team because he's not Arsenal quality. Most guys aren't. The point remains that he's another American who has found his way abroad and teams can see taking a chance on our athletic talent is a good gamble. While we'd all love him to be Champions League quality stalwart Championship player is nothing to sneeze at. He'll make good money in a tough league and eventually bring that experience back home and hopefully share it in our soccer community with the next generation of kids hoping to make their soccer dreams come true.

    All true.

The Championship average salary of 600k sterling is nothing to sneeze at either. :whistling:

Scored a stoppage time winner, an absolute screamer, as the US beat Ecuador 1-0 in the U20 WC. JoGo had a very good match.

I thought he was a bit shaky at first (as were others - nerves probably) but got better as the game progressed. Has he ever played on the right before? Cuevas injured and out of the competition. Halliday called in as an alternate. Probably used three in the back to temper fast wingers and then who else to play right wing back?

Well, the average non-DP salary in MLS is getting close to that, currently near $500K. It'll only be a few more years before going to the Championship will only be a stepping stone to the EPL, and not a financial boon that it has been for American players.

EDIT: And now I realize that we're talking about Auston Trusty in the Jonathan Gomez thread.

EDIT 2: And now I realize that I'm responding to a post that's approaching two months old, and it's the 4th most recent post in this thread!

I looked that up just yesterday--the league minimum is about $67k (but that's only allowed for the last I think 3 roster slots, and that figure is still only allowed if the player in that roster slot doesn't also fall into one of several other categories).

I know very little - if anything - about Mirandes but doing a quick dive their new manager Alessio Lisci is a young (37) manager who spend his managerial career in the youth setup (also had a 25 match stint as 1st team manager) of Levante. I think I’m correct is saying Levante has a very good and reputable youth system. It looks like the Mirandes roster is chock full of young players, many who are on loan from La Liga clubs. There’s only a couple of guys currently on their roster over 24. That indicates to me they will rely on young players. If so… that bodes well for JoGo. It will be an important year so him. Not a make or beak but a season that can go a long way in setting the foundation for his career moving forward.

That's the kind of insightful and positive viewpoint I like to see!

Gets minutes in his first game of the loan - on in the 62 minute after Mirandes took a 3-0 lead, and in ends 4-0. Came on for a winger, didn't see if he played there.

Gomez replaced a winger and purely based on FotMob’s ratings/stats looked to have a decent debut. Rated 6.4 in his 28 minutes. 17 touches. 6/8 passing. 2/2 tackles won. 1 block. 3 recoveries. Won 2/3 ground duals, 1 dispossession, I assume there wasn’t a lot to do considering the score was 3-0 when he entered. Good match to get his feet wet. Hopeful more to come. Good start to the season for Gomez and Mirandes.

Gomez came on in the 68th today, already trailing 3-0, which is how it ended. 6.5 on FotMob with a couple of shots.

After falling behind 1-0 to Espanyol, Mirandes went with a triple sub including Gomez coming on, playing on the left of a three man backline, a bit to my surprise, though some of the time he seemed to fall into some LB habits in the buildup and roamed higher than the other two CBs, which was hopefully coached. Made a couple of tidy defensive plays despite playing in that position.
