To be fair the MC players weren't born with oil money. Can I cheer for the players & against the owner?
Sucks for KDB. Dangerous though that he stayed out there after he strained that hammie. Could have made it much worse. But I understand why he tried to play through it.
As it turns out, they did have several chances, but Ederson made a few point blank saves, Lukaku saved a shot from his own teammate, and City held on.
I saw Lukaku being blamed on social media for blocking the shot but that was unfair. The guy headed it right into his body. I think fans may just be frustrated with him in general so were quick to pounce.
Yeah, Lukaku has a (unfair?) reputation for choking in big moments. When that happened, I knew he'd get dragged on the socials. Finals are usually pretty cagey (last two WCs being a bit of a rarity). It's also interesting that a lot people are viewing this as Pep's win. Funnily enough, none of the stars really played a big role in the semis and finals: Haaland, didn't score since the QFs, KDB was quiet except for his super important goal at the Bernabeu, Bernardo Silva was huge in the semis, true, but not really dominant otherwise. It's just a really well-built team that can find goals from anywhere.
If Haaland wins 2023 Ballon d'Or, it would be no different to Cristiano's 2014 & 2016 Ballon d'Or - In 2014: Cristiano didn't play in CdR Final. Cristiano was scoreless in full 90 minutes vs Atletico during the UCL final & scored a useless penalty in 120th minute when Real had a 3-1 lead - In 2016: Cristiano was scoreless in UCL semi-finals & final. He was a complete non-factor in Euro 2016 after he got subbed out in 20th minute
If Chelsea wants to loan either Lukaku or Pulisic to the Galaxy for the rest of the 2022 session, I would not have an objection. Whether that's possible under the terms of the summer transfer ban is another question. It would seem like either could be a Chicharito replacement under the terms of a season ending replacement.
