Not sure where to put this--but a picture from Cologne on our recent trip. Another guy that reminded me a bit of our own @hangthadj He is a barkeeper at Zur Malzmuelen, one of the better traditional Koelsch pubs in Cologne....
Haha. Love the sarcasm. Keep fighting the good fight. Are you going to be at any of the next three home matches? Stand in the Nordecke? Please feel free to stand next to my plastic fan kiddos. You just might crack a smile. Like the Grinch’s heart.
Unfortunately not Our next game isn’t until the end of July, St. Louis CCCIIITTTTTTYYYYYT in the Leagues Cup. Hope your plastic son doesn’t melt in the sun.
With the help of Wikipedia, and to kill time before tonight’s Crew match, I did some research. For $h!ts and giggles, Which MLS cities have large stadiums with grass fields that could be used to increase attendance when the Miami Messis come to town? If you’re in NE, Atlanta, Charlotte, Toronto, Vancouver, Seattle, and Portland, you’re straight up SOL. He ain’t playing on turf. And if you’re in Nashville, Minnesota, and Houston, your NFL stadiums have turf. So you’ve got to pack your SSS’s. Montreal too, as old Olympic Stadium puts turf down for the Impact if they play in MTL in the early part of the season. In Cinci, both Paycor and Nippert Stadiums are turf. Orlando’s Camping World Stadium is turf. And Texas’ stadium is turf, so too bad so sad for aust!n. But if you’re in Philly, DC, Kansas City, and Denver, you could be in luck if your MLS club were willing and able to move the match to their large grass-fielded NFL stadia. Soldier Field in Chicago is already grass. The LA teams could play at the Coliseum or Rose Bowl. In Salt Lake City, Brigham Young’s stadium is grass, and Dallas could play Miami in the old Cotton Bowl stadium; grass surface and 90K+ seats. Not sure about either of those two stadium’s field size, however. And San Jose could consider moving down the road to the 49’ers stadium. In turnabout is fair play, RBNY could play in Yankee Stadium. And Busch Stadium in St Louis, which hosted a WCQ in 2015 and a friendly in 2019, might be able to host a Miami match.
Luchi Gonzalez. Added experienced defensive players like Gruezo and Mensah. Espinozas having a great season.
Of course FCC just scored in the 84th minute at Vancouver. 1-nil Cincy leads in the final minutes. They are just crazy this year.
Would it be worth their money to bring in real grass for one game? I'm thinking mini-packs would almost be required. You've just sold 30k extra tickets to non-sexy games which would obviously mean more income to help pay for that temporary grass field. Season ticket holders would get Miami included. Everyone else would be required to buy a package consisting of Miami plus a small amount of other games, at least 1-2 which would be weekday games, games in crappy weather or other games that wouldn't be as attractive. "If you want to see Messi in August, you need KC in March, Toronto on that April Wednesday, New England in June and you choose one game from this list of lower-level teams." People definitely will buy season tickets and sell everything else, but any FO who sells true individual tickets to "The Messi Game" needs their heads examined. You're given a gift to boost ticket sales for games that normally don't sell. Use it wisely.
The Revs have bought out Jozy Altidores contract. He was on a max TAM deal which means it'll cost them at least $1.5 mil to dump him. He's now free to sign with anyone.
But it does show that in-season buyouts are permitted. I think once upon a time they had to be done before setting the rosters for opening week.
St Louis win or draw with Nashville New England v Orlando draw that would make me feel better after dropping 2 points
Nashville @ Montreal Wednesday will be interesting. Definitely plan to watch this gm and hope Montreal wins. Could be a dilemma for them because they then play us Saturday. We definitely need to get 3 points. Which players for us and them will be unavailable for international play ?and any other reason players miss (injury , suspension etc…)could be a huge factor in this important match up
Wednesday matches to keep a eye ️ on NYCFC @ Atlanta- Atl should win Nashville @ Montreal- MTL should draw at least they are very strong at home 6W-1L but Nashville is one of the better road teams Toronto @ Cincinnati- FCC should win this Philadelphia @ Orlando- could be a draw here as Orlando oddly has done better away than home and Philly has been doing decent on the road. Now I have no idea on who will be missing players for International duty, Injury etc… I plan to watch the match previews on apple but if anyone has some insight on this please share.
