True, but also true is he's on loan with Delap & Parrott, one from M City & England underage, the other from Spurs & Ireland and has bested both.

Has played competitively underage for Ireland so AFAIK any switch would be final ( could be wrong on that )

He is in my opinion seeing where he's at club wise early season before the September window at the very least & sitting this one out.

Delap and Parrott have both been pretty big disappointments in their senior careers relative to their potential and hype at youth level. I don't think they are relevant reference points. Delap is now 4th choice striker in our u20 squad. He's even behind Jebbison who I don't really rate at all.

Compare Tom Cannon to Cameron Archer. Archer is a year older but outperformed him in the Championship significantly in my opinion. You can see their statistical profiles in the links below for last season. As well as Archer did he's still a player that I'd be very unsure as to if he'll ever win a senior cap for England.

You could be right in your last paragraph. He may want time to think and see how his career progresses in the near furture. With the dire economic straits Everton are in and Calvert-Lewin's terrible fitness he might get some Premier League game early in the next season and then you never know.

Archer was playing in a much better team than Cannon though who created chance after chance in a passing style that was levels above Preston.

I tend to agree that it is worth Cannon sitting out the summer and seeing where he is before the Autumn call ups - he will be playing for either a top end Champ club or for Everton and that puts him firmly on U21 radar

When I see Tom Cannon's goals last season they remind me of Ellis Simms. A few decent finishes but he doesn't look like a top striker in training. Archer is quick and finishes like a top player and with both feet! I think the eye test backs up the stats in this case.

I don't disagree with this, but sometimes it is better just for someone like Cannon to press pause on international career whilst they find that out, or see what can be done in near future.

There is a scenario where he scores 10 PL goals next season and if he does that then has obviously got to a level no one is currently expecting and may change things for him

Luis binks. What a weird attitude

'It does feel a bit like I’m the Scot in Italy who no one in Scotland really knows about! Obviously, I’m English-born and that’s clearly a factor. People hear my accent and wouldn’t know that I’m eligible for Scotland.

“But I’m Scottish as well. I hope I’ve got a chance to be involved with the national team. I definitely want it – but it’s whether Scotland wants me?

“My grandad Richard was Scottish, from Dunbar. I actually spoke to someone from the SFA a few months ago and told them I’d like to play for Scotland. There seems to be a perception that I have said no before.

“But that’s not the case, I’d never say no to Scotland. If the opportunity ever came up, of course I’d want to be part of it.

“I had a positive experience with Scotland when I was involved at Under-16 and Under-18 level. The group of boys I played with were great. I learned back then that the Scottish lads are so down to earth.

“When you go away with other countries, they can be a bit big-time. “I’m not like that.

“I fit in with the Scottish boys a lot more than I did when I went away with England. I look at lads like Gilmour and Patterson and they’re so grounded.

“Obviously I know Aaron and he’s very level-headed as well. That’s why I’d like to be part of it.

“From the outside, the camp looks so positive right now. I watched the win over Spain at Hampden and it was rocking that night.

“That definitely appeals to me. But for me to get an opportunity I know I need to do well in Italy

“If I do that next season, I might get a call-up.

“My grandad would be so proud if I played for Scotland, as well as all his family up there. My mum – my grandad’s daughter – would take us there when we were kids to see him. She’s always tried to keep the Scottish going in me.'

He has one Scottish grandfather. Why is it so terrible being English to some of these dual players

He knows playing for England is a long shot, so he's trying to sell himself to Scotland. I'm not sure even Scotland need someone playing for a mid-table second division team in Italy.

They probably don’t and Scottish fans are quite divided on English raised players anyway.

I'm sure complete coincidence that the interview is timed just as his faint hopes of an England under 21 call up have gone and he has no international prospects on the horizon.

He's had a pretty good season with Como tbf & was playing in Serie A last season. But Scotland in general have been weirdly reluctant to give any of their Italian-based players chances.

Sounds like the FA are trying to get Cannon back.

Quite interesting if they have asked him.

Just weird how deleting social media pictures has become a sort of ‘burning your bridges’ moment for dual nationals.

Jebbison not in Canada’s final squad for the Gold Cup.

That reflects social media as a whole where deleting pictures indicates a split from something or someone.

If they don't delete those posts they'll become a focus for the negative attention that quite often comes with this sort of thing.

It's an interesting one really. He was born in Canada and lived there till he was 13. They're offering him senior tournament football. He must really want to play for England but as 3rd choice striker in the u20s he seems a long way off our senior squad.

His mother or father are not Canadian though and I read he moved back so his Mum could be closer to family.

The timing of switching for this tournament would have been awful. Always felt unlikely even if desired. Most of these issues come down to circumstances. Canada have good forwards who he will be behind.

I doubt Balogun would have switched if USA’s CF options were stronger. But like Angus Gunn with Scotland Balogun sees a starting role there up for grabs.

Also, I don’t really understand why nations can place players on preliminary squad lists when they haven’t agreed to it.

His mum also competed in trials for Great Britain in athletics when she was younger. I think through while his dad was born in Jamaica he had been in Canada since a youngish age as he represented Canada at some college basketball event. I think reading between the lines he knows that England offers him a better chance to win tournaments and he backs himself to become good enough to get selected,

  21. Frimpong was voted into the BuLi team of the season.
However Koeman managed to piss him off by not selecting him for the Nations League semi finals against Croatia, and I mean pissed off seriously!
Looking at your right wing defenders theses are quite old, according to Transfermarkt.
Could he be of interest for your national team?

It’s probably our most competitive spot and the youth system usually brings players through in this position quite well. He also once said he wouldn’t play for England. If he switches it will be for Ghana.
