4-42 still with Rubin and Arango up top? Sure seems like one of Rubin, Julio and Musovski will be unhappy with their new role. Not sure I'd expect Arango to start immediately, unless the team isn't scoring at all.
Messi wouldn't just come in and start for this team and Pablo. Have to prove that you deserve time in practice. lol. I also don't think it's a done deal that Sava stays. Heard rumblings that not all of his family is happy to be here. Could be getting pressure to head somewhere else again. That may change with Arango coming in to bolster the lineup but if Sava leaves out of the 3 you mention I think Rubio could fill that role and then Julio and Moose can take turns next to Chicho. Let's just get the deal done. Knock on wood.
Yes, but he's Venezuelan and left RSL for Brazil. I think he wants his kids to have US Citizenship. There might be more to it, but the transfer rumors pop up right after his kids are born? Seems too convenient. I'm sure he's not happy about winning trophies in Brazil and coming back to an at-best average team in MLS.
League play resumes, after the Leagues Cup break, on Aug 21st. I'm guessing that both RSL and Houston won't make it far in that tourney. Ouch!On the 21st: Houston plays at home against Portland. We play @LA Galaxy, then will probably head straight to Houston Monday morning for the game on Tuesday night. I'd be amazed if we beat Houston IN Texas in August anytime. In a cup semifinal with another away game 2 days earlier? This would be a heroic achievement. Maybe we should send most of our starters for the US Open Cup game to Houston several days before, and send the backup team to LA?
RSL plays on Sunday night (the 20th) at LAG. The match in HOU is Wednesday, the 23rd. They play HOU again on Saturday the 26th at the Riot. Looks like they just need to prioritize the USOC, no big deal. There's 5 games for RSL from 8/20 to 9/2. 5 more games from 9/16 to 10/1 if they advance to the final.
I was going off the results map, which had the day listed as the 21st. Stupid Major League Soccer Soccer Dot Com website.
I've been thinking about the Messi in Salt Lake for the USOC final and the best way to make sure that doesn't happen is continue to talk about it happening constantly. As we know RSL is not a team that plays well under pressure and if there is constant talk about that possibility you can almost guarantee that they go down to Houston and lay an egg. By August it could look like a totally different RSL team with Chicho, knock on wood, in town and other summer window signings, again, knock on wood, but this team never plays well when they are expected to play well. But damn, wouldn't it be cool if Messi came to play RSL at the Riot? Damnit! It's going to be a Cincy Houston final.
Cincy is supposed to be bringing in a DP forward, but they may not have Acosta. Messi is Messi, so who knows with that one. I'm trying to get a ticket to that one though.
Messi is Messi, but Messi has also always played on the best teams. I wonder how Messi on a crap team looks.
And by that I mean, I can see him making Miami the new best team, but I can also see the team struggling even if Messi himself does well.
Messi isn’t going to help Miami much when it comes to getting scored on, other than holding possession a bit longer.
Jason Kreis would oftentimes say that it was his belief that if you took the best player in the world and put them on the worst team in the league then they would still be the worst team in the league. Can't wait to test that theory, with the team that just sacked him...
Miami isn't without talent. Messi has tons of gravity. They'll score more goals when he plays. They would look much better even without him had they not lost their two defensive midfielders.
