There are a good 6 or 7 of these players that have a really bright future. At one point tonight we had two 17 year olds out there. Think about that for a second. The kids have a lot of room to grow and are already showing talent and heart.
I'm all for 'Largo Ai Giovani' but it remains to be seen if Serie A clubs will start any of these guys. I have my doubts.
I agree. I remember Orsolini and Dimarco starring for the U20s. I felt they both had a very bright future. However, it took years for clubs to start giving them chances. Both those players are 25/26 now and are doing really well. The question is why did it take so long for clubs to have faith in them? Was it the players that weren't mature or did the clubs lack vision and patience? I think it was that the clubs lacked vision and patience.
The situation is resolving itself because - ultimately - it is the club coaches who decide who plays, not the club managements. The new generation of Italian coaches seems more open to using younger players who deserve selection. This is a significant reversal from the last decade or so when older coaches were sceptical of selecting younger players because of the perceived risk of inexperience. National team-wise, the beneficiaries of this evolution should be the under 21 and senior teams in the coming years.
Should be a fun World Cup Final for the boys today. I was curious about Nunziata's formation. Looks like he's again going with Pafundi off the bench. Baldanzi will be the trequartista to start behind Esposito and Ambrosino. FORZA AZZURRI!!
Italy U20(4-3-1-2) Desplanches, Turicchia, Ghilardi, Guarino, Giovane, Faticanti, Prati, Casadei, Baldanzi, Pafundi, Ambrosino
This is basically a home game for Uruguay. It’s my first time watching them and they’ve been impressive. Technical and very aggressive Our boys cannot get any possession going
Just need to get to half unscathed at this point Nunziata needs to adjust. Italy does not look ready for this pace.
Agree. We look very flat. They look comfortable on that shitty cow pasture of a field. (It's actually an embarrassment for Argentina to have a field like that for a Final.) 18 games have been played on that field in 21 days!!! That is unheard of. We clearly are not comfortable passing on that field and are hesitant. Uruguay instead is just going for it. Credit to them. We have to adjust. We can't play long ball with Ambrosino upfront. He's not that type of player. We have to play quicker one-touch transition calcio when we get the ball back. Can't hesitate.
One of Pafundi and Baldanzi has to come off. We need someone who run and we need to send balls long into space
The Uruguayan striker keeps getting away with it. Studs on the keeper is a yellow card whether it is intentional or not
They can’t string a ********ing pass together. No one can dribble past their man. They are completely out muscled and outrun at every turn. This is a terrible performance
Cesare Casadei has been practically invisible. He's been in Fabricio DIas's pocket.. the field cannot be the reason why they've been playing Low-IQ all game. weak clearings, zero intention in attack, second guessing every ball that drops to their area, etc. I've never seen an Italian team play like this before in any age group.
